Very much so, but this sort of thing happens way mor eoften in football than we know, speaking to many ex players and staff over the years blind eyes have always and will always be turned to this sort of thing.

Often though not as blatant as TC being in the squad/side, but brown envelopes has always been part and parcel of the game, not just in the lower leagues too.

The game is inherently corrupt and has always been more about money than the sport.

Probably slightly more difficult now compared to the times when cash over the turnstile was the normal. Crowds under reported
as “allegedly” happened with the Town many moons ago made it far easier, but I suppose there are still people around who have various ways to hide income and expenditure!

I worked on the turnstiles back in the 80’s on the old ‘Aldershot’ stand. That was cash and due to the size of the crowds I always took thousands of pounds in notes back to the office.

I was told several years ago by an ex-player that one one occasion in the 60's some of the drains had to be dug up - cause of the blockage was loads of notes in loads of envelopes!

Strange one really, cannot see him going elsewhere as he seems very wedded to Newport and is a local lad?

I can't see that he would leave Newport without having another gig lined up, his stock is still pretty high even though they are mid table.

I think he thought someone would come in for him in the Summer, as we were touted to, but that never became reality.

Surely he can’t just join another club. He’s still contracted to Newport. Gardening leave.

I think its mutual termination so he would be free to join any other club, but there may be a clause that if he does take over anywhere then Newport would be entitled to a fee, as Cooper did at Swansea when he left.
