Nigel Adkins to Charlton
Interesting one, hes been out of the game for a couple of years now, possibly waiting for the best offer. Didn't do very well at Hull previously though but prior to that he was handy.

Both an underwhelming appointment for them and an appointment we could only dream of.

Charlton fans in the main very very happy with his appointment, as I would be had we a forward thinking board and owner, as you say we can only dream of attracting a manager of his calibre and experience at the highest level.

Therein lies the problem. He would command a decent salary above and beyond our ‘sustainable budget’ and the players to make it work, again, above and beyond our sustainable budget. See a theme here? I know you do but that as is oft said these days it is what is is.

Done nothing of note since 2013.

Not an appointment I’d be over the moon about. Naturally these things can go either way but would feel a bit Phil Brown to me, a jobbing manager still getting jobs based on things they did 7-10 years ago.

Which is of course still a step up on a jobbing manager whose done nothing but be shit for 16 years.

I believe when Paolo walked he was supposed to come here to see us over the line but it fell through at the last minute

S*n reporting Wellens has been sacked at Salford. Obviously take with large pinches of salt given the origin

That move seems to have gone disastrously for all parties. Which is strange as it seemed pretty logical at the time for Wellens at least. Football management is a rough old ride.

Brilliant.

I just had a look on their forum and it seems as though the players aren't playing for him. It's looking increasingly as though DV has it right.

Bet he’s chuffed to bits.

Gets a pay off and then free to go to Doncaster.
