I think the injury is key with manks, he wasnt half the player when he did get in last season, I suspect we may be offloading a white elephant on someone, as it may have crocked him more than we know. Timlin, yeah effort etc, but he can be summed up in one game for me, Huddersfiled at home last year. He was brilliant for 60 mins, I couldn't believe my eyes, the final 30 mins he was a lower league pub player, godawful, Lower league 2 player, which ironically we currently are, but won't be for long and we need better.

I think a few people need to take off the rose tinted specs. Manks was a good player but is injured more than he's fit. He's taking a place in the squad and picking up wages while being fit for what, 50% of the time, at best? Good business shipping him out.
Timlin leaving tugs at the heartstrings a tad more. He's not the best player in the world, but he's far from shite, gives 100% and is reliable enough to fit into a few positions. If he's fallen out with PDC though, so be it - Sturrock will be in for him in no time.
If I'm being 100% honest, neither player really grips my shit in terms of what we need to do this season, so, thanks lads and good luck wherever you end up.

If we're being perfectly honest, Amankwaah has only had one 3 month spell where he was properly 'best in division' decent. He was being left out for Darby at the end of our P/O season, and I don't remember that great an outcry at the time.
Timlin runs around a lot, and seems like a decent guy. But it not good enough.

Jesus christ, first we don't have enough players, then we have too many, now he gets rid of some and it's like we've just sold Messi, Pele & Ronaldo.

It wasn't that long ago that bringing Timlin on as a sub was the kiss of death. How many times did he come on when we were a goal up only to draw / lose. The crowd arounfd me used to groan when he came on as you knew what was likely to hapen next.

I think the most worrying thing about this is implication of PDC's style of management !
A mate chatted to Timlin at the weekend, and he confirmed he had a fallout with PDC - he said he was only explaining why he'd done a particular thing ( in training), but PDC wouldnt listen and said he was questioning him ! Timlin said a lot of the lads were very wary/nervous around PDC due to his mood swings, and were a bit scared of him. He also said PDC doesnt seem to like Connell, so maybe thats why he hasnt had much of a look in.
I know some may say it sounds like sour grapes, but I find this is a little worrying - we see and like the passion PDC displays in public, and that is his true feelings, but if his man management skills/knee jerk reactions/ volatility go un checked it could spell trouble in the dressing room !

It's not as if this is a surprise though is it. When appointing di Canio the Board went for volatility over the more sober style of say Wilson. Which is why most good judges went for chaos or community....too early to tell, but I suspect that it will mean di Canio himself will do the honourable thing if necessary.

Agreed. I'm not that bothered if PdC decides to ship players out, he's the boss, but I hope it's for purely football reasons only. Those of us who have worked with bosses who have big mood swings know how shit it can make the work place.

I heard Timlin's reasons for being dropped directly from Timlin himself, the problem with believing it is you've only got one side to the story. I'd take it with a big pinch of salt.
