Afternoon all, I'm off to Amstersdam in a couple of weeks and would like to watch Ajax who are at home.  According to the Ajax english website, those abroad can only buy a package which I don't want to do.  Has anyone been to the Amerstam Arena?  Can you just pitch up and pay to get in?  All help gratefully received as ever.

Hi Donkey. I have not been to Amsterdam but been to watch PSV Eindhoven 3 times now and it sounds like the system they adopt in the Netherlands might be standard (Something to do with reducing hooliganism over there or similar).

We had to buy a package which depending on the category of game was 50 Euro. For this you get a match ticket, 20 Euro voucher for the club shop and 15 Euro of tokens for beer.

The second time was against Feyenoord so was more expensive. 70 Euro for the same deal, however because of the high risk element, no alcohol was on sale Sad

The third time was a pain as I already had the shirt and the home and away socks so I didn't know what merchandise to buy! (think I went for a nike t shirt in the end!)

Cheers.  Hopefully, we can get tickets in the city and then the train over.  That looks like being the plan.  Presumably, if we turn up with a ticket and hand it over, no-ones gonna get stroppy over the fact we're Brits.

Best thing to do would be to email Ajax directly to let them know that you want to attend the game. (The contact we had at PSV was very friendly and helpful) You can buy the package and pick the tickets up at the game. I would be very surprised if there will be no issues with the fact you are British!

I think the cost of the package will put some of our party off, that's why I just wanted the tickets.  This could be harder than I thought.  Thanks for your help.

And now it looks like they've sold out of the 50 Euro tickets (which is still bloody expensive) and the cheapest way in is for 81-50!  Fuck that.
