Snippet in the Sunday Mirror today from Micky Adams now of Port Vale fame commenting on Di Canio’s appointment.
It was quite patronising with old Micky going on to say that as Paolo’ first appointment it was make or break and that it will be “interesting” to see if the foreign lads settle. Usual crap about wet Tuesday nights etc..
He rounded the interview off with how competitive the league will be with lots of emerging talent such as Ex-Town player Mark Marshall being one to watch.

How the hell Mickey Adams is well placed to judge any lower league manager I'll never know. A couple of decent seasons is ll he's ever offered. Give me Lou Macari passing judgement and I may be inclined to listen. MUG

Micky Adams = Over-rated manager.
Remind me, just how long did he last as Sheffield United manager?

I mentioned on another forum that I though Di Canio would probably have us as the fittest sqaud in the division.
Port Vale fans told me Micky Adams would definitely have them as the fittest in the league and has a reputation for it (since when?)
Then the icing on the cake - if our players are fitter than Port Vales then we've spent too much time on fitness, as if a footballer can be too fit!?
As for the topic at hand who gives a fuck about what Micky Adams thinks about anything?

Adams has done nearly 600 games and won more than he's lost, so he must know a bit about lower league management.

Some get awfully tetchy on this subject.
Outsiders are entitled to their opinion and people like Mickey Adams have the experience to have an opinion.
I really, really hope that the gamble pays off for us but you know what, it might not.

Constanza's right - Adams has every right to give his opinion on the competition. It just happens that he's come out with a load of nonsense, given that the vast majority of our squad are quite used to cold Tuesday night football. The mistake everybody is making is thinking that we have a load of prima-donnas who can only perform in perfect conditions, and ignoring the amount of experienced lower league players we have.

Looking at yesterdays teams sheets just goes to prove how inaccurate peoples assumptions are. The amount of British players on the sheet far outweighed those from overseas.

As the great Don Corleone, amongst others, said, "Overestimate your enemies and ensure they underestimate you."

Because 4 of the imports have already gone lame....and we haven't played a meaningful game yet.

The Italians we've signed are from Italian lower leagues, where they're used to playing in tin pot little three sided stadiums. In fact, they're used to playing in snowy conditions, whilst the game would be called off over here.
