Can't find anything to back it up. I'll listen to a bit of Radio Humberside and see if it confirms the story. As pointed on the Adver the story has slipped off the official site. Origional Link: http://www.swindontownfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/News/NewsDetail/0,,10341~682115,00.htmlNo mention of any contract being signed just a verbal agreement by the looks of it. Grimsby have assembled quite a good squad for next season. That said if Whalley drops to that level then maybe it's for the best. Perhaps lacking in that ambition King thought he had. Arse!

I've looked on BBC Radio Humberside Website and can't see anything on there to back it up.
I'd be surprised if he chose Grimsby, if he was moving purely for money most other clubs could offer more than us and he could get better than Grimsby, let's just hope it's rumours.

BBC Radio Humberside have just said that he has stalled on signing for Swindon, and Grimsby have talked to him but nothing has been signed/decided yet. They are hoping to announce definately tomorrow.
Doesn't sound good.

Fuck, sorry chaps is true! News on Humberside states that they are 'trying to bring the player to the club'. Apparently he's stalled on signing a contract for us. Statement from the manager due in the morning. http://www.unb.br/ig/prof/ReinhardtAdolfoFuck.htmNot a done deal but really doesn't look good at all I'm afraid.

Obviously listening to the same thing as me Dazzza.
I agree, the fact that he's talked to them and stalled on signing with us doesn't bode well at all.

Just a bit tagged on the end gave the impression he's signed something but it's not clear what.
Think they have it in the bag the fact the manager is making a statement in the morning.
Oh well we still have a Miglioranzi to play with, if he can hit form with a good holding midfielder like this Smith chap then we'll still be laughing.

I know, it's just disappointing after he'd verbally agreed to sign for us, and then money has obviously come into it as he's going to go to a lower league club, 3 year contract maybe swayed it as well.

Lets wait and see, hopefully the lure of League One is too much to turn away
If he has been offered a 3 year contract then I expect he'll take it over the 1 year we have no doubt offered him

If he does sign for Grimsby I'm sure the 3 year deal offered is the main reason. Is he 31? If so a 3 year contract could lead him to the end of his career. Whereas with us he may end up having to retire at 32.

It's still a joke that he'd chose to drop an another division to play his football, three year contract or otherwise

I've not known enough about it/him to get excited anyway, so fuck him. Who's this Smith then?

If he went back on an agreement, we don't want him anyway. I am sure King is checking his list and checking it twice, and will come up with a better alternative.

It can't be because of distance at least, as Grmisby is about the same travel time to Manchester as Swindon, maybe a little closer, but not much.
He'd be daft to go there really, from his point of view a good year with us will probably be more profitable to him than 3 in Grimsby, afterall it will give him options at the end of a year, no-one will pay a transfer fee for him, so a bad year there could see him earn less over his last few years than here.
