Stupidly let iTunes download an update for my iPod Touch. It crashed out part way through and now my son's iPod Touch is stuck in permanent recovery mode (picture of USB cable to a cd with a note saying iTunes). Tried power on and home together, but it just goes to the apple logo and then back to the say recovery picture.

Help!

If it's Windows, try changing the drive letter for the iPod.

Try rebooting the computer, load iTunes, then plug phone in but do power and home at same time, should then popup saying iPod is in recovery mode. Click update then should work

Problem I'm having now is that I've finally got iTunes to recognise there is an ipod attached. I'm trying to do a restore and Windows finds 'new hardware'. It then tries to load software for an Apple Mobile Device (Recovery Mode) and keeps failing.

No. Got it sorted!
1. Downloaded iREB-r4 to get iTunes to see the ipod
2. Fresh install of iTunes on another (faster) laptop
3. Recover ipod on faster machine
4. Transfer back to slower machine and synch to old library

(Note: Had tried reinstalling iTunes, downloading a new .ipsw file, rebooting pc, recovering several times. Just didn't like it! I've now come to the conclusion that 'any' problem with a pc takes 6 hours minimum to fix!)
