Di Canio 'focused' on squad-building

PAOLO Di Canio recently concluded his first month in charge of Swindon Town and though he has barely had time for a break, he is loving every minute of life in the cut-throat world of management.

Obviously people are disappointed with the lack of signings, but found this comment from PdC encouraging -

It can also take longer to sign a contract with a player because I want to be sure (they want to come). I speak with them two or three times and see if they change a little bit in the enthusiasm they have.

I need to speak with them a few times because we cannot make a mistake, we do not have 20 players already, we need to form a squad that I feel can win games. Therefore we need a certain mentality.

I think it's crucial we hit the ground running this season and so if that means waiting a bit longer so the management make sure they get the players in they think fit the bill, so be it. I can be patient.

When Di Canio comes out with things like that it's very encouraging and it looks as if he's using the money available to him wisely. Impressive.
