With the football season over now and no British games on tv until August i thought i'd give Sky a call to remove the sports package and save myself the £20 a month or whatever its costs. Obviously as so many people doing this they are prepared to offer you sports package at a £15 off each month for 3 months saving you a bargain £45.
So, if you like your summer sports its worth the price of a 10 minute call.

They must have different offers based on your existing package/length of service i would have imagined?

I just did that and the woman I spoke to gave me free SkySports HD for 2 years, sent me a laptop, PS3 and new 50" Plasma TV, then came round and gave me a handjob. Result, cheers Grim Reaper!

I would think that is the case, we have been on the full package for about 6 years and with sky for 10+ years.

I am still going to cancel the sports package anyway when the free 6 months is up cos if any game is on tat I want to watch I will watch on t'internet for nowt anyway.

What's the Sky Anytime+ like?
Last year we switched from Sky to Virgin, as it worked out slightly cheaper and you get the on demand stuff, which is good. I just don't like the Virgin set up, it's really slow sometimes and a lot of the time I want to watch on demand programmes it says "due to high traffic you are unable to view this programme" or some crap.
I much preferred the Sky+ layout and it was much quicker and slicker, so would be tempted to go back to Sky.

Depends really Ginginho, I'd say Sky HD was better than Virgin's standard digital box, but my brother recently had Virgin's Tivo system installed and that looks a mighty fine bit of kit.

Cool, never even heard of Tivo, but it looks great, £150 installation fee is a bit steep though, might contact them see if they can do anything on that Smiley

What's the Sky Anytime+ like?

I wouldn't know because the uselss fu**s haven't got it working properly on the Amstrad 780 HD box yet.

Also note that having a HD box (not the 780 or Thomson!) and Sky Broadband is a pre-requisit for receiving the service, you can't use any other ISP.

Have heard the Anytime+ is limited in HD content but is ever so slowly increasing this.

I envy you all as I work in the public services and can't afford Sky.  Crying Can't remember the last time I was able to watch some decent live sport other than Champions League and F A Cup.
