The only "blow you out of the water" candidate in the championship, considering his acheivements, is Neil Warnock. Mind you I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up at Plymouth considering he lives down there.

Maybe but not what I've heard

Paul Buckle is the bookies favourtie to take the Rovers job.  So clearly being in the play offs with his current team isnt stopping him from touting himself for other roles!

By your criteria of currently employed but not as manager, the name Didi Hammann has been mentioned elsewhere already this morning...

Then you'll be possibly disappointed...

Or bookies sometimes quote prices against people who've never applied for the job and have no intention of doing so (e.g. Hoddle for us - explicitly ruled himself out, bookies still quoting)

Disapointed at him NOT ending up in Plymouth?

Except triseros already said the mystery person is not currently a manager

My money's on Triseros' mystery man being Hammann or Ian Culverhouse (the latter of which I would be over the moon with)

Did we ever discover who Reg's mystery candidate was?

if the tabloids are to be believed then QPR are lining up Ranieri as manager, thus rendering Colin Wanker available. No chance he'd ever drop to League Two though.
Be a shame if QPR did part with him, he's done a sterling job there.

Disgraceful, if that is the case. He deserves his season
