Was anyone else here on the old STFC Mailing List (the stfc@networksuk.co.uk one)?

Just spotted some of the messages from it as I was moving my emails to my new MacBook, looks like I have 3000 plus from around 1999-2001'ish. Anyone else got any?

I've lived here for nearly a year and don't know a single person outside of work Hmmm...

It's also something to pass the time when I'm on nights this week.

Haha. I'm skint until next week. This week has been, long, slow and mostly sober (well on three nights).

Yep, since 2001.

What since 2001?

You haven't had a life since 2001 then like Ben and Sonic?

Or you've got an archive of the mailing list since 2001?

Am I confusing this with the Yahoo! group list?

No life since 2001 either!

What's the Yahoo group list? I take it that's what you've got an archive of? Would be good to share that as well I reckon.

The one I'm on about was an old fashion mail relay list thingy, ran by Leigh Collett I think.

I'll sort out what I've got and post an archive. Not sure of the actual number of emails I've got, there is 12k of them but it looks like there are a lot of duplicates hence my 3k estimate. Reckon I've probably got some more somewhere.

Though I'm sure someone else will have some tucked away somewhere.

What became the yahoo one was going strong as far back as 1996. Then message boards killed the mailing list star. What is this @networksuk.co.uk imposter?

edit:
Johnny, the yahoo one was run by Leigh Collett. I assume that @networksuk.co.uk was either an alias for the same list, or the yahoo predecessor that used to run on majordomo software (can't remember the posting address so it may have been this)? Can't remember when it migrated to yahoo groups.

The yahoo group is still going (sort of).

I thought Leigh ran the Yahoo list as well, maybe it's an early ancestor of the Yahoo list?

http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/stfc/ - you can search messages back to day one, so there's your archive!

Except the yahoo group was merely a continuation of the original mailing list - the old server went and yahoo was its replacement. And so there are loads of mailing list posts that aren't archived!

I wasn't aware of the Yahoo one. I'm guessing the one I'm talking about was the predecessor as it was definitely run by Leigh Collett at the time, pretty certain he worked at Networks UK (or whatever they were called) and used their systems for it. Looks like it was started in 1994 by Chris King.
