My com has flashed up with the blue screen of death twice in as many days. It then just shuts down and re-starts again without a problem. I know this can't be good. So......
1) Is there an easy way to find out exactly what it is
and
2) I have updated my drivers recently, might that be causing it?
Cheers

Yes there is a good chance the driver updates have done it, go into the pc in safe mode and turn off the auto restart option on error and put in here the exact code that comes up with the BSOD.
It may just be a case of uninstalling the new driver software if it was going ok until then.

If that fails.....
Place your xp cd in the rom drive and boot up. You should see this message :- PRESS ANY KEY TO BOOT FROM CD. Press enter and windows will load. Press R that will take you into the recovery console. Then you will be asked which installation of windows you want to load, press 1 then enter. You will now be asked for your administrator password, type this in and press enter. (If you do not have a password just press enter) At the C:\ prompt type FIXBOOT and press enter.
When the new boot record is written type exit.

My work laptop does exactly the same thing, ever since I did a Windows update. Now I just hold down the power button every day to turn it off. If it was my own computer I might be concerned. Several people at work have the same problem, I put it down to a crap Windows update.

Turn it on and keep pressing f8 see if that gives you the option to disable the automatic restart

Cheers gents.
I'll have a play around with it tomorrow, my brain is a bit too fried for it right now. Hope it is the drivers, can't afford any repairs right now.
