To be honest you could apply that sentence to any of the prospective managers and you can guarantee that whoever we get in someone, somewhere will say this...

Possibly Hoddle as manager with Ling and Bodin as coaches.

Can't see it happening.

What is intruging is that Wrey will sit down with the players on Monday to discuss their futures. Shouldn't this be done by the new manager? Has the new manager given Wrey his consent to do this?

Shouldn't the new manager be doing that though?

Players want to fuck off on holidays though so you can't make them wait forever before at least finding out if they want to stay or go.  Contract situation means fuck all if they don't want to be at the club.  At least it will give the club an idea of how many players they are likely to be looking for.

At least when they do then hire a manager, this list can be handed to him so he knows what the players are thinking

I see where your coming from. If a player doesn't want to stay then it gives us enough time to look for replacements.

But wouldn't it be better if the new manager sits down with the players and speaks to them about how he wants them to play, where, in what formation etc. so that the players know what direction this club is going in before they decide whether to stay or not?

It's a bit redundent what Wray is doing anyway because the manager (we think) will have the final say on who he wants to stay or not.

I am guessing the players looking to leave won't be looking to leave because of the manager or formation it will be more down to the fact they don't want to drop division or they don't want to play for the club anymore so I am sure Jeremy Wray can cover any conversations with out of contract players.

S'right. And the wage drop which is likely to be the great overriding factor for most of them.

So what do people make of Hoddle's odds dropping like that?

Worth reading anything into it?

I'd imagine they are just cutting odds to cover what's being laid (obviously). I'd imagine there is some unfounded rumour going round. I don't think it would take much money/many people betting at VC to shift the odds. I just can't see many people betting on this at VC.

edit: wot Ben said.

Why don't we take Hoddle as manager, and the whole 93 playoff squad as coaches?  Better yet, pay them to play again.  Even better yet, lets build a time machine and go back to May 1993 and have a party.
