I kind of agree with both arguments. He's been gash, but he may, just may work out without Douglas being here. Obviously I'd rahter keep JD.

Put another way I think he may be a JPM like enigma - there is a good footballer in there, but you only see it when everything fits in place right (or when the contract is coming up).

put him on a week to week contract  Cheesy

He owes us a good season considering the hype that surrounded his signing.
He owed us that this season. He failed to deliver. His entire career has been one long story of "there's something there" and him doing just the bare minimum to show that but consistently failing to deliver on it. I don't see what people think is magically going to change by dropping down into League 2. If anything, I'd have thought it's even more likely to encourage him to believe he can coast his way through it. We should be doing everything we can to get him off the wage bill instead of fondly imagining he's suddenly going to discover the self-motivation/pride/whatever to finally start putting a shift in. He isn't - he's a waster and an expensive one at that.

Agreed paul

But the right manager might put him in his place.

As long as that place is another club, that's fine by me Smiley

Prutton and Douglas are two completely different types of midfield players, why are people wanting one or the other?

I'm shocked the sub-eds didn't go with "Staying Prutt?"

The sub-eds got sacked after one of the writers came up with "The Curious Case of David Prutton" earlier in the year.

Because if it doesn't work out one season...It certainly won't work ever!

The cynic loitering inside me says it's just papertalk to get some praise prior to departing. However, so far players are coming out and committing which wasn't the case during the last time the club put was through this.

People are set on 'getting rid of 'em all' but I'd try and keep the squad together and add to it (what we infamously failed to do this season).

A agree with you. I'd get rid of a few, but people wanting rid of Dougie and Cuthbert especially are crazy in my eyes.

It's been a thoroughly shit year, no doubt. We all found it incredibly frustrating, mainly because we know the players we have are better than what they showed.
Get that CB we've been crying out for all year and a couple of strikers and we're almost set, in my opinion.

Douglas and Cuthbert will be gone....others out of contract will also go....then a number in contract need to be persuaded to look for new clubs.  Sadly we may end up with some of these, as nobody will be interested.

Prutton's been so far off the pace this season its a big question mark whether he'll be good enough in L2.

Looks like we might not have a choice other than to try him and find out.
