Oh come off it he would of been one either way. People like him just want an excuse to become what they become.

He lived a happily western lifestyle didn't he until he got brainwashed. I hate ameirica but it always seems that people will just just start bashing them no matter what.

The truth is the US used rebels in the middle east for their own benefit when they wanted to in the early 80's. They funded and trained these people.

I don't hate America I just think politically they're a bit of a joke. That's all.

He would have always been fucked up, that's true.

But would anyone have followed him, and killed countless people for his cause, if the USA had kept their noses (Not to mention their money, arms and 'expertise') out of other countries?

Everytime The US has decided to become involved in policing the world, since 1945, it has been a total disaster, both for them and the countries they are 'helping'.

Terrorists are scum, but look at the root causes.

The Taliban were already in place when he left Saudi Arabia though to join them. They were originally formed to try and overthrow the afghan goverment not blow up innocent people. They mainly ended up following him more because he could finance such things not because what he believed in.

Agree about them trying to police everything Steve and totally agree but my main point is that no matter what or how long it took there is 1 less wanker on earth and with the Tunisians and people in Libya showing that by protesting the way they do they can get change it may show confused youngsters in the middle east that there is a different way to protest rather than have to blow eachother up

No they weren't. That's the mujahadeen you're thinking of, which if not created by were financed and armed by the US and the UK. The mujahadeen would never have got anywhere in kicking the Soviets out of Afghanistan without that.

The Taliban were formed in the aftermath of Soviet withdrawal as the various mujahadeen groups descended into warlordism. The West, having achieved it's aim of giving the Russians a bloody nose and then "winning" the Cold War, abandoned Afghanistan to it's fate of years of civil war between these corrupt and brutal warlords. The Taliban were initially very popular precisely because they were seen to be "purer" and less venal/brutal than the warlords and so were widely backed by ordinary Afghans who were tired of dying and suffering at the hands of the warlords. It was only once they got into power that ordinary people saw how brutal they also were.

Those same warlords, by the way, became the "Northern Alliance" - the ones we put back in power post-9/11.

Hertha's right - Osama would always have been a nutter. But he'd have been one among many nutters, isolated and ignored and without infuence or followers. It took Western (and Soviet) fucking around with power politics to create the monster he became.

Though it also helped that he had some spare cash to play with as well

Whatever come from this, it won't be peace.

People will keep on dying fighting a cause they'll never be able to stop.

America's sheer arrogance in this is worrying.

I really can't get my head around how the ameiricans are in the wrong for celebrating this. What pisses me off more is that this country keeps refering to the 9/11 events seemingly ignoring what has happened to our own country since then.

I really don't have any problems if the American's want to celebrate this or otherwise.

I have no bad feelings towards America or Americans in general. I just feel the US government contradicts everything that it stands for.

Of course I totally agree. It goes without saying that I'm totally against radical Muslims and what they stand for.

Look at the history books, look into Operation Cyclone, look at what President Carter authorised and what President Reagan carried on.

I think they are more arrogant about their economic power. They have got more and more into debt, usually under Republican presidents without any idea of how to pay it back.

Militarily they can still carry out operations and implement their will like no other country. So in that sense they have good reason to be arrogant.
