I understand the burial at sea, means there can be no shrine or pilgrimage site. But seeing how quick they were to release photos of dead 'terrorists' before (Saddam's son in Iraq i think?) it is strange that they havent this time. I don't think they're lying about him being killed, they wouldn't get away with that, but i wouldn't mind betting he took far too many shots to the face and a bit of an emotional shoeing from the Yanks that meant they couldn't possibly publish any pictures.

Americans killed = celebrations in the 'Eastern' world. Bin Laden killed = celebrations in the 'Western' world.
The irony isn't lost on me.
Celebrating the death of scum is a bit different to celebrating the death of 1000's of innocent people as happened in certain locations on 9/11.

I understand also a burial at sea, but the time of the raid and being buried seems awfully quick. My concern is that as of yet I've not seen any proof that bin Laden has been killed - certainly not over the weekend. We only have the US President's word for it (and shock horror they've not entirely been honest in the past). I put forward no kind of theory but I'm not coming to any conclusions unless we see some kind of evidence.

Of course it is. But the irony is there isn't it? We bomb the shit out places and get innocent Muslims killed and this is always going to upset other Muslims, hence the celebrations at the retribution/revenge.

My thoughts exactly. Until I see some evidence, like when they announced they caught Saddam, there are doubts in the back of my mind.

The anti-American sentiment doesn't surprise me. However, given the circumstances I can see why they took to the streets in celebration. Especially when you see that the vast majority on the streets are young adults who have been brought up to understand that this chap was public enemy number one.

I'm waiting for Al-Qaeda to deny that he's dead. The whole swift burial allows for plenty of conspiracy theories.

Its possible they took him alive and covered it up, but I can't see them totally making it up after 10 years. Though personally I think what is being reported is true.
