Pakistan is in danger of becomming a failed state, the governments has no control over large parts of the country. Its not a case of the Pakistan government harbouring him. They have known he was in Pakistan for around 4 years. |

The Taliban was created by the ISI(Pakistan Security Services), and their links to Kasmiri militant groups means they have a hard time seperating themselves from the hardliners, regardless of political will. I'd imagine complicity with high-level terrorists goes most of the way towards the top of their society. |

Well, if you want to back to roots, the Taliban and al-Qaeda both came out of the milieu of mujhadeen groups encouraged, funded and armed by the US and UK to defeat the Soviets in Afghanistan (including Bin Laden who was at some points directly US-funded). Much of that was front-ended by ISI. I'm not disagreeing btw - ISI is up to it's neck in jihadi militias in the region, largely for regional political concerns - just trying to add some historical perspective that we (the West) actually started the whole train running. We created a monster. |

Personally i wish we had captured him,tried him then posted his execution on some TV station for the world to see,ideally his head being hacked off ala what his followers do to innocent people regardless of any sentiment.
