I agree that the idea of appointing Paul Bodin is not rubbish, it's a quite plausible appointment.

However, these are dead rubber fixtures which will be hard to judge a Bodin on. This is a very important appointment for the club.

And another thing. What's this thing that people have about 'contacts'?

How does anyone know exactly who Paul Bodin, Paul Trollope or anyone else have in the game? How can you possibly know?

King got us some cracking players on loan through his contacts. Fair point that none of us know who knows who but I would suggest that having spent recent years coaching the youth team, Bodin isn't in the position to know what players are out there etc

My Dad, random_five's Dad and Bodin are very similar in the respect that none of them have experience in managing the first team of a football league team that requires extensive rebuilding.

That's the point I was making at least.

And yet there are those (I'm not saying you are one of them) who are advocating a player manager along the lines of Ardiles, Hoddle, McMahon etc. All of whom had ZERO experience. Far less coaching experience in fact than Bodin - How ironic.

I don't know of course, but I reckon he had a pretty good idea of who is out there.

Regardless of experience/contacts/age/nationality/dick size, I think everyone would agree that this is a vital appointment for the club in order to stop the rot before it sets in further. It is for this reason that I think Bodin (and Trollope for what it's worth) would be too much of a gamble, we cannot judge Bodin on these next two meaningless games with a team that will barely resemble what we have come August.

We don't have the luxury of risking a club legend with no managerial experience, it's been a rotten season and people are emmotional, I understand that, but Bodin in my view would be a massive gamble and simply not worth the risk.

Norwich tried it with Bryan Gunn in remarkably similar circumstances, culminating in a 7-1 home defeat to Colchester.
