Town have no specific candidate in mind for top job, says Wray

SWINDON Town interim chairman Jeremy Wray has suggested the club will not be actively pursuing managerial targets and instead will be looking for those interested to submit applications themselves.

I wonder if this is a smokescreen and in reality they have someone lined up...I fucking hope so.

A bit contrary to yesterday's remarks regarding having a new man in by the end of May, so I would hope this is a smokescreen...

Perfection is not attainable

I would imagine that it will not be the manager of any club thats is involved in the play off then which would certainly rule out Mellon at Fleetwood and possibly Buckle at Torquay too.

Eh? We've got a whole month before that end of May target (without the hassles of a football season too).

Plenty of time even when starting from scratch.

It was Mr. Fitton that took an eternity to appoint a manager plus (unless there's a change from the norm) no compensation packages to work out.

Jeremy Wray just said that he did not want it to be a 'protracted process' and that he hoped to have someone in place as close to the end of the season as possible.

I wouldn't be too disappointed if it was Bodin. He certainly talks a lot of sense.

I wonder if we'll go for Gary Johnson once he takes Northampton into Non-League Smiley

That's the second interview I've heard from Bodin since he took over. I like him.

I definitely want him to get the job.

Don't see why not, he clearly loves the club and sometimes passion can be more important than experience

Exactly. At the end of the day, no one has any idea how any potential new manager is going to do so why not get someone in who actually cares about the club? I just like the way Bodin carries himself and puts himself accross. As I said, he talks a lot of sense.

It will of course be interesting to see what sort of response he gets from the players today (not to mention the fans).

Rubbish.
My Dad loves the club. I don't want him as our new manager.
Now more than ever we need somebody with proven experience, who can inspire the players and preferably has a few contacts.

Bodin is a no. As is Trollope.

Agreed...although I'd like to see my Dad get the job.

Bodin should definitely have a role in the future direction of the club - especially if he does well over the next two games - but we need someone with experience but is still at least involved in football management at this level, has contacts and is someone the fans can unite behind. Bodin does tick some of those boxes but not enough for me.

Well no, it's not fucking rubbish. It's my opinion.

Does your dad have over 20 years of professional playing and coaching experience?

No.

Thought not.

My Dad, random_five's Dad and Bodin are very similar in the respect that none of them have experience in managing the first team of a football league team that requires extensive rebuilding.

That's the point I was making at least.
