We are in safe hands - Watkins

SWINDON chief executive Nick Watkins has allayed fears the resignation of Andrew Fitton as chairman will hit the club financially, but did reveal they are on the lookout for new investors.

So if the board aren't on their way out, why do we need new investors? Or is this a case of the board not wanting to splash the cash and run the club as a proper business?

In reality it has probably always been the case they want to spread the burden. But it still sets the spidey sense tingling.

Agreed. I read that nothing has changed - they are always looking for new investors. Plus it is probably part of the previous answer about Fitton remaining on board.

According to the article, less revenue in L2 = greater shortfall to cover and so looking to spread the burden a bit. And not in the article but I'd guess also a factor, they'll be looking for other investors for the stadium redevelopment

And from the article, for "illiterate Adver" watchers:

Doh literally, schoolboy error
quite apt given the headline and our play this season
