to me that doesn't make sense regarding wages for dougie and cuthbert. Wray has stated that all contracts are adjusted incase of relegation. surely this would fit within the budget of league 2 for both players?
True depends how they were adjusted. Were they adjusted in such a way that the option year was non-negotiable irrespective of relegation?? IIRC most option years are on decent wages to include inflation etc so the player benefits towards the back end of the contract. Also as I say now is a way of negotiating a longer term contract so that in itself may benefit player and club. We can only speculate. Players can negotiate anyway with whoever they want as Wray said any player can go if they want so the club cant lose really. They either get the player back on a better contract for the club or they lose the player and free up more money for new signings etc.
