What was Bodin's record at Bath City like? Is he actually a good manager?

As much as I would genuinely like to see Bodin in charge, I'm pretty sure his name has been mentioned in dispatches before and it's been said that he's not interested in a managers job as he has far more security with the Youthies.

Cant find his record anywhere but he spent 3 years there between 98 and 01 so he's been out of the fold for many a year and never been a football league manager. He'll surely get some of the older folk interested again and in terms of having a "name" he's probably just as suitable as someone like Wise but his experience would be a huge risk.

Yeah that's my thinking too Nemo. Just wanted to play a bit of devil's advocate because I can't find any evidence to suggest he'd do any better than a manager with much experience.

Yeah The Adver forum is very reliable.
Had a look for this over there, and it comes from a fella in Bradford, whose mate apparently knows Bodin's daughter. As rumours go, I'd say it doesn't have much going for it, apart from the fact Bodin's name crops up at the end of this Guardian article... http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/football-league-blog/2011/apr/25/swindon-town-notts-county-league-oneAppointing an ex player, has a bit of history when the shit hits the Board....they tend to think a popular move and its cheap....think John Trollope....Jimmy Quinn....Iffy Onuora. Thing in common, they all got us relegated.

I like that article, particularly this bit: Or perhaps the trouble started with this season's change of colours. Sky Sports Football Yearbook records them as: "Red shirts with white inserts, red shorts with white inserts, red stockings with shite inserts."

My reaction would be that the fans would back him to the hilt, but that might not stop us slipping to the bottom of L2. He doesnt seem a strong enough character to me, too much of a quiet man to be the number one.
Names like Rix and Spackman are scaring the shit out of me. I would now see Paul Trollope as a complete relief.

My view. Obviously love Bodin - he is one of "us".
But to make him manager would be the cheap option high risk strategy. I'd also not like to see him in the firing line IF things went wrong.
Don't get me wrong. I'd support him not stamp my feet, it may all work out. I just think it would be the wrong type of appointment.
I could see this story having a grain of truth in it. I could seem him stand up as manager for the last two games if Hart walks.

I went to watch Bath play a few times when Bodin was in charge, he did a reasonable job at the time and Bath played football the right way. Bodin actually played left back, was still class but his legs had gone and he ran about as fast as me (which isn't very fast).

Love the bloke and he's done wonders with the kids, but really?
Never managed above the Southern League or Whatever Bath were in?
Cheap Cheap Cheap, and would destroy any optimism I could possibly have for next year.

Eddie Howe had never managed full stop before last season, and in contrast Paul Hart has managed in the Premiership.
Experience is one thing, but everyone has to get their break somewhere.

I think the board are making it clear that we are only in the market for cheap options. So they need to pick the best cheap option, which at the moment is Trollope.
