Austin could've kept his mouth shut in January. I think he ended up being disruptive. He got his chance with us and he owed us a lttle respect.

Coxy stuck a tweet up before our game against Exeter saying he was sorry we were in the situation we were and hoped we got out of it. Austin didnt and wouldn't. Rather less class.

Get real mucker, if someone from a more prestigious company came along and offered you the chance to double/treble/quadruple your salary would you tell them to stick it out of gratitude to your current employer.
And if you would, you're a headcase.
Thought he put in the transfer request DMR? Unless he had been tapped up by Burnley, in which case it was just in hope more than anything. No one put a gun to his head to sign his contract at Swindon I would imagine? Yep I am a headcase, just before the company I worked for went under I had an offer to work for another at slightly better terms and conditions(real world), if I had accepted I wouldn't be in the shit I am now, but being the twat I am and holding slightly old fashioned loyalty values chose to decline. Guess I'm probably a bit older than you

I don't think you've quite grasped the nature of doubling/trebling your salary overnight, that's not "slightly better terms," that's a fucking fortune for a lad whose career ends at 35, unlike yours or mine.
If you think it's up to some pikey footballer to uphold the morals of civilization then I feel sorry for you.

I hold morals in very high esteem, that's the way I was bought up and I apologise for that, and yep it is a short career I'll grant you, but then it doesn't necessarily end at 35 does it? There's always a nice little lucrative career in coaching, scouting or management. So feel sorry for me all you like, it won't change change the way I was brought up. You were obviously impressed by his methods to manufacture a pay rise then DMR?

Id make sure I had it in writing (which Austin cannot have had?). If you are comparing it to jobs outside the football world youve got to remember when you switch employers they have a probation period for 6 months, if the company experiences a downturn you would probably be the first in line for the chop, a cheap redundancy. Not to mention he up sticks to the other end of the country. The extra tax. Just things to consider.

The fact that he didn't want to play for us is one thing, but the fact that he has buggered up his shoulder again is something that could just as likely happened here as well. One of my customer's is a Burnley ST holder and he reckoned Austin looked about a stone overweight and slow when he did play for them. Overall, he's chuffed that he's gone there, but was seriously unimpressed with the state he turned up in mid season.

Austin wanted out. We got what we could. The club did the right thing.
You could almost forgive them for not finding a replacement if they genuinely thought he would stay. Though I don't think that was the case.
What is unforgivable is that it was clear way way before the transfer window that Dossevi and Pericard weren't up to replacing Paynter's goals. I guess its hard finding a goalscorer, but we had enough time FFS.
I know we got in Benyon, but even so...

Added to the fact another 5 months under his belt, playing well and scoring goals and he'd have more clubs after him offering him more money. Benyon is unconvincing at best.

Benyon is slow, weak, small, shit touch, can't shoot. Struggle to see what he offers although maybe he'll be good in league 2.

That's the bit that sticks in my craw. It wasn't like it was a one-off "take it or leave it" offer like DMR implies. He'd have had the same or possibly better chance in the summer, could have left with some dignity and without creating all the shit/upheaval as he agitated for a move (which in itself is one of the reasons why we find ourselves where we do). I said it at the time he was badly advised and I still see it that way. But now I tend to think he and his agent/adviser deserve each other.

That's true. He was as likely to have got sparked out in a club for moving in on someone's missus down here as he was in Burnley. Form is temporary, lack of class is permanent
