Anybody else feel the same? I guess it's because back then it was a one off, and up untill the final whistle blew we still had a chance. Whereas this season it's been coming for ages, so has lessened the pain in my eyes. It's not even as if we've had anyone to blame but ourselves, no sense of injustice, we're just shit.

Then I think it might be more of a growing up thing. Last time we went down I was inconsolable, now I don't really care. I just want the new season to start and for us to start winning matches!! I've given up on this season.

I'm not really sure what the purpose of this thread is. I guess i'm trying to say that I don't feel too upset about our impending relegation, am looking forward to next season, and would like to know if anyone feels similar.

I think the fact our winless run has dragged on for the best part of 3 months (so far) has eliminated hope gradually, rather than building up false expectation then dashing it at the last.

It's completely different, last year was great and could have been amazing but was a let down right at the end. This year has been drab all the way through and since December has left us all seeing the obvious result of relegation. Your feeling is the difference between excitement and then let down and boredom followed by disappointment.

Right now is the most crappy disappointing feeling I have had as a Swindon fan in years.

I think I posted in one of the other threads, that us being disastrously shit has been part of being a Swindon fan, and I'm not above embracing it. I think it hurts more this season because although we've got the smug "I said we shouldn't sell Greer" contingent, I don't think anybody expected it to be this bad. At the same time it's nice to see Swindon can still pull off being Swindon even if everything seems rosy off the pitch. The fact we should be doing better tempers it a bit though. If we'd beaten Brighton on Saturday it would have been amazing of course, but I don't think it would have felt as insane as that Charlton away win under Quinn which came out of nowhere.

It's a shame that we seem to be lacking that fight. Even though we were pretty fucking shit that season King kept us up with the last min Invincible Peterborough goal, I wouldn't object to some Alan Reeves, Mark Robinsons or Bobby Howes in our team, even if the latter two were absolutely fucking gash by that point.

Not that I know that much. Only game I've seen all season is the Sheffield Wednesday game at home. I thought we looked alright.

Last year was heartbreak. A sudden let down and a gutted empty feeling. Followed by pride and optimism that a) We got a club going in the right direction, b) In every way we are moving forward on the pitch and with a groundswell of support.

This season started off with the disappointment at losing our club captain to divisional rivals and a slow start to the season. And every week it has got worse and worse. Just as you think there is no way it can get any worse it does. The worst thing is on the face of it there is no fucking reason whatsoever as to why it went wrong. Its not like previous times - we have no off field turmoil. It should not have happened, that simple.

I have never felt so indifferent to watching STFC play again as I do now.

And this is the same as me and many more besides I don't doubt.  I know some are being positive and already thinking ahead and even looking forward to next season, but who says it's going to be any better than this one?  For me struggling in League 2 is a real worry.

I can't believe that it will be one year (52 Saturdays) this Saturday since I walked out of Elland Road feeling a million dollars because my boyhood team had gone to the mightly Leeds, ridden the Leeds storm a bit and then we dicked them 3-0 and were in the automatic promotion places. Walking out of the CG on Easter Monday against Tranmere in the warm April sunshine after another 3-0 win and we were still in poll position.

I was braced for defeat in the play-offs as it is such a lottery but was still gutted walking out of a miserable Wembley with only the one chance with Austin when the team did not turn up that day.

This season as been baffling. We have taken 4 points off Huddy, beat Southampton at home, beat Wednesday, Colchester, Charlton away. Many performances have been abysmal. Some - Leyton Orient away - have been quizzical as we had so many chances that first half but they took theirs as we defended poorly and we are 3-0 down at half time. There really has not been any fight or clue since the New Year though and that has been hard to take. A better team should have beaten the likes of Rochdale, Carlisle and the Daggers.

I still feel sad at our plight. Last May was a punch to the stomach.

Christ, was that only a year ago? What a day that was, we were bloody brilliant fans and players. In hindsight, I guess it was also where things started going wrong that season as Paynter clearly got tapped up by Leeds in the aftermath and the rest is history.

I need to decide whether to renew tonight really, in Swindon tomorrow. Probably will, but fucked off with the whole thing.

nothing smug about seeing how valuable greer was to us,or pointing it out.
it wouldn't give anyone pleasure in saying i told you so when we are going down.

I felt worse last season because I cared.

This season I don't care. Don't give fuck. The mistakes made have been so fucking obvious.

I've missed more home games this year than I have in the previous 10. Not even a good reason just couldn't give a damn.

I won't be back next season for division 4 football.

I've finally managed to numb myself to STFC and wish I'd done it years ago.

Blame the players. On paper the most talented bunch that we've had at Swindon for quite a while. In reality a shower of shit. The whole fucking lot of them should feel thoroughly ashamed of themselves. Should. That's where the problem is...........they fucking care more about their fucking hairstyles and what they'll be doing Saturday night after the next fucking non-performance than they do about playing in the red jersey of the mighty fucking reds. You can blame Danny Wilson, you can blame Fitton, you cab blame Paul Hart.............the truth is that the players don't give a flying fucking shit. Bunch of fucking wankers. Every single one of them needs a fucking good kick up his fucking arse.

Excuse the language. I'm fucking annoyed.

Like others have said, the immediate feeling of being overwhelmingly gutted after the play-off final defeat is a completely different feeling to the one this season.

If anything, for me, the defeat at Wembley has just compounded the misery this season. I really expected us to bounce back and be even better.

Oh, how I was wrong.

I don't see how anyone could feel last season's disappointment was bigger than the shit we've endured since last August.

This whole season has been one long torture fest.
