I totally get what people are saying about discs, but for me, i don't buy many games. In the last 12 months i've purchased 2 games and they've kept me content, the rest have been PS Plus freebies.
With the PS5 im only really interested in 2 games, and thats COD BO Cold War and Resident Evil 8, so from a personal view, a digital only will suffice.

I think I’m at the other end of the scale. I usually buy second hand games and sell on any I don’t want. The digital version won’t work for me, but I will wait until after Xmas when the prices should fall a bit.

Do people genuinely feel the need to upgrade every time something new comes out? The technology is only as good as my eyes and ears  Smiley

The last new PlayStation was released more than 7 years ago. The upgrade in graphics and whatnot will likely be significant.

Not that I'm buying one myself, but that's because I'm more of a PC gamer. (And I do upgrade my PC from time to time)

I don't NEED to i WANT to.
One improvement i'm looking forward to is the step up from 60hz to 120hz refresh rate. I know the PS4 Pro already supports it, but for someone like me with just a standard PS4 4K support is huge too.

And yes, unlike flagship phones, which are released every year, at a cost of upwards of £1000, i see no comparison in upgrading a console which I've owned for the best part of 6 years an more than half the cost.

Pre-ordered a PS5 this morning. I've been Sony ever since the PS1 but for various reasons never got round to getting a PS4 - I'm still using my 13 year old PS3.

The jump in graphics is going to be insane, I'm a teensy bit excited.

I queued up the pre-order on a separate tab but by the time i got in the digital only version was sold out so didn't bother. I'm in no rush to get one, so will wait till release.

The only slight worry I have is the SSd "only" being 825GB .  COD was 100GB+ on its own on the PS4!

I know speed certified external SDDs will come out and become affortable at some point. So probably an imagined problem
