was pre leon knight It was on one of those back of arkells protests, all the protesters moved out of the way to let the brighton team coach through as we had no bone to pick with them. Players on the coach were waving wads of cash at us giving the bird, police did a good job as a few stones were lobbed and it could have turned very nasty. Think they just had a a well dodgy group of players that year, wasnt there word of it kicking off at crewe the same season when the brighton players were laughing through some minute silence or have i just made that up?

When was this Mexico?
I have seen Swindon about 7-8 times this year and although They have played badly on many occasions, I really hope they dont go down... As a Brighton fan living in Swindon I would like to see better football when I am not at Falmer.. Dont give up.. Football is 90% banter.......can the poster please explain why they HATE Brighton?

Im not sure about that....I think are making it up!!! BUT just before Virgo scored the equaliser in the play off semi final.....one of your guys whispered in his ear." I will send you a text from the Millenium gay boy"" minute later he scored.. Again just on pitch banter... PS get rid of HART he is not a full time manager.

i look at brighton with envy. they have got the whole thing spot on this season. a new ground waiting to move into coupled with their inevitable promotion into the championship.i'm jealous. they took our skipper without a whimper from our board.and our team which were banging on the championship door has been allowed to become one of the poorest squads in living memory. fair play to brighton i say.

^this Their future looks pretty good, ours doesnt, thats football. Things could be reversed in 5 years but it must be pretty dam good being a Brighton fan right now. Their only worry is holding onto to Gus, i imagine some pretty decent clubs will be sniffing around him in the summer.

This is one of the most depressing threads in recent memory. However, it also goes to show how quickly things can take a turn for the better.
Step 1: we need out of League 2. (And yes, I have given up on avoiding the drop this season. Sorry.) Step 2: we need to push on like Brighton have this season. Despite this season's cock ups, I still think that we're relatively well placed (fanbase, solvency, development potential) to move on to the next level...but only if lessons have been learned on the football side. Naievity has cost us.

r.......can the poster please explain why they HATE Brighton?
Play Off Semi Final - you got fucking battered both legs, best team lost. I know you dont always get what you deserve in football but it would have been unjust if we'd won 4-0 over all. Then, extra time Brighton losing, fans leaving. Virgo scores, fans run back in. Win on penalties. Fans on the pitch, to celebrate with the players? no to celebrate with their own fans, no? to come over and celebrate infront of the soaking wet Swindon fans and completely ignore their players that just won, hell yeah - complete lack of decency and class. The fans that had already left the game and came back in, gloating, not interest in anything other than getting in our faces. Then the fact that all the Brighton fans on various message boards have said it never happened, I saw it with my own eyes! it fucking happened. Didnt see us running over to the Charlton fans last year did you? nope. Yes I'm still bitter and I hate Brighton.

I will check the DVD and get back on Thursday,.I will even upload the relevant bit to youtube..you might be made to eat your words......but you just sound like a sore loser....you might have noticed there was/is no roof over the Brighton fans either.......it is also a "tradition" to gather on the running track. it is NOT walking out the ground. Watch carefully.....the Brighton players are at the East end of the ground (in front of Swindon fans) that is where the penalites were taken. Get over it, it happened.....

The goading did happen, no doubt about that. But it's possible that the memory of it has been amplified over time. When you're soaking wet and pissed off, a few pricks dancing on the pitch and giving it the big 'un probably gets remembered as a few hundred over time.
I'm over it now, by the way. (You redeemed yourselves by beating Bristol in the final.)

I'm not especially bitter and don't hold a grudge against Brighton fans for the play-offs (although the gobshite players on the coach in the incident Mex refers to can all fucking do one), but I do quite clearly remember a load of your fans running over to us after the pens were taken, completely ignoring the players to stand right in front of us and goad us, complete with universal "offering out" hand gestures. You may or may not have seen it, and it was probably a minority, but it was a sizeable group and it did happen.

See there we go again from the gayers
blah blah blah didnt happen blah blah blah
The hundreds of people running back in clearly showed they left. Dont tell me your fans didnt goad us because I was there watching it.
You can fuck off now.

I was there that night and things like that happen. It's football, people get over excited, feel bigger than what they are. However I don't think you can label all Brighton fans with being arseholes, it was a few fuckwits who got over excited and came over to us. The overall feeling after the game was just one of pure dissapointment and I can understand that feeling coupled with the fact that Brighton fans coming over and taunting us would make our fans furious.
However DV makes a good point, we battered them over the two legs. The first leg at the CG we dominated throughout and the second leg we played brilliantly only for Virgo to get a run on Mooney at the death. Gutted.

That maybe so but the records show a 0-1 win at the CG and a win on penalties at Withdean.....and so on. anyway just get behind your team against Exeter tonight... Im off to Daggers now hopefully to do you lot a favour..
