Peterborough have turned down a bid of £3 million from Norwich for Craig Mackail-Smith!!  (Loan now and then a perm transfer).  If they rate him at higher than that did we let a certain player go to Burnley too cheaply/?

No, CM-S is absolutely different class for L1, Austin was just decent.

Every time I've seen this lad play I've been dead impressed.

Similar ability-wise to Cox.

Peterborough did very well to keep him for so long.

Austin is/was more than decent.....put him in the Posh line up and he would have scored even more than he did.
Austin is a good as anyone in Lge1.

CMS and Adam Lallana are the 2 best players that have been in the league 1 this season and it isn't even close.

How long as CMS got left on his contract?

Considering that Fitton said Austin had 18 months left plus we invoked the extra year, so for a player of Austins talent with 30 months to run on his contract we didnt get enough imo.

Of course the main difference in the comparisons are the fact Peterborough turned down the bid.

It ends in the summer...which makes me think the Norwich bid of 3 million isn't really the case...and probably his agent raising the stakes....very good player he is,but at 26 is a lot older than Austin, probably go for around a million if he is out of contract in the summer.

CMS has been around longer than Austin and has consistently been banging them in. I rate him higher than Austin.

Some of you have missed the obvious point that Austin is a cunt off-field.

He may or may not be as good as CMS, but he's fucking trouble, which is why he was allowed to leave us for whatever we could get in near or above the +£1m bracket.

We obviously miss the goals, but if only half of what he's supposed to have got up to is true, I'm not surprised that it was a no-brainer for Fitton when Burnley came knocking on his door.
