In an increasingly undignified game, its good to see some dignity show by club and ex manager alike.

Fair play to both of them. Wilson did the honourable thing in the end. He's a top man and I hope he gets a job again soon.

Takes a big man to do something like that.

Totally agree... Danny has brought this club to its knees over the last ten games and has been given every chance to rectify the situation, he has failed and paid the price. He probably had the bulk of his contract paid off, and why not for all that he achieved last season. As for Greer, there were signs on the run in last season that he was beginning to struggle so I was not surprised that he was allowed to leave, but not to be replaced, now that was a huge mistake bearing in mind Morrison could not make the Wembley team. Time for a new start on Saturday where we still have a very decent chance of saving ourselves lets hope its not too late!

I dont think Danny has been sitting on his arse doing fuck all. Its not just black and white. I personally believe that they were trying everything, however, it wasn't working. He gave us a great season last year it hasn't worked this year.
I think he's an honorable man and to step aside to give the club a chance to gain fresh impetus (albeit a little late for a lot of peoples taste - I think he still believed he could rectify the situation till the end) that a new manager will bring is admirable.

Perfectly put. He seems a thoroughly decent man, and he gave us a season to remember. One fucking bobble... Let us not forget last season.

Proves what a gentlemen he is, he must be gutted the way things have gone and probably a little bitter, but seems to have put the club first. Bravo in this day and age of lawyers and litigation.
Discussing the whole sorry issue with my Bristol City supporting mate at work today, he said that Wilson was very popular there, took them to the play-off final and things disintegrated straight after that - playing right-backs as left wingers etc. He was sorry to see him go, as I am. But I think its deffo the right thing for the club.

Top Man, Danny and gutted that it had to end this way Some of the players have been shocking this season and yet, key poistions apart, we seem to have had more cover than ever Lucas or Smith Rose or Sheehan Caddis or Manks LJF or Morrison Cuthbert or Frampton Prutton or Timlin or Ferry McGovern or O'Brien Pericard or Dossevi and more positional combinations besides.... Most of those players have put in performances that have understandably had us screaming for changes. Douglas, Cuthbert and Charlie aside, I feel that Danny should have better decided which was his team and which his bench and tinkered a bit less and got through any rough patches earlier in the season and developed a better understanding in a team whatever faults it may have had to carry. Most of these were Danny's players and most of the ones which weren't are hardly poor. Will never forget last season's run and in success and failure Danny has always been a gent and represented STFC well even in this sad but necessary end Good Luck Danny and !

My opinion is that he was trying to accommodate the players brought in, but in doing so destroyed the system/balance/consistency we had last season. That said, he didn't bring players in to sit on the bench (well Ferry maybe). He probably genuinely believed we'd be a better team for it. To be honest most of us thought the players brought in would improve the team not make it shit. But it went wrong and he was forever tinkering from then on in. The downfall was not ever finding the fix. Because despite everything I still believe we a a couple of players away from being half decent in this league, strikers aside.

i think you have it right. i also think a golden handshake is the only reason wilson went quietly. its obvious he didn't just quit, nor was a replacement sought with his blessing.hart was blatantly lined up ready to take over. i think the article is bollocks.
