They ain't all that.
Crowd size tends to be a bit disappointing for a "red hot" derby too.
back in those days, tho it pains me to say it they had a tasty firm, dont no about now

I can remember watching us play Oxford loads.
The 3-0 at the Manor was one of my darkest days ever at school the next day.
Seen some good 4-1 wins at the County Ground and can remember a night game in the mid 90's at SN1. There was 13,000 there!

To cheer everyone up - here's his best appearance at the County Ground.
You can tell things really are shit when the McMahon era has a nostalgic glow.
I'd not seen this since the match - and thoroughly enjoyed seeing it again. Quite sad to see the late Frederic Darras come on though - life can be cruel.

Remember the season we were flying in Div 1.....they were near bottom and dicked us 5-3 at there place. Won 4-0 at Plymouth and 4-1 at Ipswich that year as well as hammering Sunderland 5-2 at home.

Couldn't have asked for a better 15th birthday present than a trip to see us beat the scum at the public loos.
I get the feeling (maybe I'm wrong?) that most of your fans look back on the Manor in the same way we do though; a shithole, but a charming one in a way. I don't really remember too much about my first Oxford match, we played Leicester when Matt Elliott was still on our side and not theirs, and I think it was a 2-2 draw and the ref was a shocker. Watched the highlights back the other day and didn't recall any of the action. Not too long after was my first and last derby at the Manor. We lost, 2-0 I think. I can vividly remember our mustard kit, a very young Dean Whitehead getting sent off, hundreds of pound coins raining down on Mildenhall and the sound of them all clanking against the goalposts, and that cunt Gary Alexander blowing a kiss to the London Road when he scored. I'd like to one day build a football ground with a replica terrace of the London Road. back in those days, tho it pains me to say it they had a tasty firm, dont no about now There's a fair few around, plus there's all the people from the suburbs of the city who'd be up for getting involved.

Are you not thinking of the last time we met in the league, the 10th anniversary of which was yesterday? Oxford 0-2 SwindonSteve Robinson scored both goals. Whitehead did get sent off, as did Matt Murphy later in the game for a second yellow. But it took the ref a good 10 seconds after issuing the 2nd yellow (and some vociferous calls from the Town fans present) to realise this before ordering Murphy off. That defeat was pretty much the nail in your coffin that season. [Edit: Memory playing tricks with me. You were more than 20 points from safety at that point!]

Next season will certainly rekindle old memories and ignite the derby once again.
I can see both games being sell outs. Especially if we're both doing well. Oxford will bring 3,000 easy to our place and they will be up for it big time.
Just hope our bag of shite players know what this game means to us.

They may be restricted to bank only, e.g. 2300 or whatever it is... that JB clip above is good since you get a feeling that the mutual disgust between the two sets of fans permeated to the players at little, hence the the treatment of JB. I fear that this season we will have a whole new set of journeyman players who wont know, wont care etc, what it all means... cant speak for the pox players, know fook all about them...

I've got a bad feeling about playing them next season. Can see us getting completely mullered unless we sign some decent players in the summer.

You can book the date already, it will be the weekend of the 24th Sept. I know this because I'm going to be away on a golf holiday.

No chance of the Scum selling out never happens.....the reason for the JB thing was purely down to McMahon who being a bully took exception to Joey so got his boys to bully him. Nowt to do with players who largely only have the vaguest idea of this game....as I posted about Turbo, he told me he didn't even know it was considered a derby....for him that was Villa v Brum, Notts C v Nottm F that sort of thing.
