Author Topic: Joe Mason - a heartwarming tale.......  (Read 3763 times)

Even though this little bastard turned down a move to us on deadline day, and maybe just maybe might have been the one to keep us up (or at least give us false hope for a few more games) it is actually quite heartwarming to read of a 19 year old local boy opting to support his home town club in the best way he possibly can, in their hour of need.

All too often we see stories of badge-kissing "committed for life" players who simply cannot wait for the right opportunity to come along and dump the people whodiscovered, nurtured, gambled on, and developed them from nothing. No offence Charlie you money grabbing cunt............

But here's a kid turning down a big money move, and a regular pay packet (Plymouth players havent been paid for months) and a chance of not being in a team destined to drop when the inevitable administration happens in the next few weeks - yet he is turning down the move to stay and help his home-town club out of their darkest hour.

Warms the heart - are you watching Rory fallon et all?
Good on the kid. For his sake and his sake alone I hope they stay up - one place below us

Mason's decision is admirable but I wonder what he would have done if he had a family?

Fallon and co don't support Argyle, they work for them. It's not their fault the club offered them the wages they receive... or don't.

If it was Huddersfield or a team near the top, he would've went. We are too crap for him.

Of course we would of. A year ago he'd be wearing a Swindon shirt too.

maybe sometimes its better to look for the positive in someone, rather than tar them with the brush of the majority of their peers.

19 years old, Plymouth lad, friends and family in the area gets and offer from a struggling team in the same league.

Admiral attitude but not a huge surprise given the circumstances. That's all.

Tend to agree...another six months from Charlie would have seen him in a different light with most Town fans.
Being cynical my feeling is he knows a bigger club than us may come sniffing at the seasons end.

Meh. His signing would concern me more than excite me at £300k. I'm quietly glad he didn't want to move, because the expectation on someone who cost £300k would be massive. (It'd also be harder to recoup a sum that large.)

I'm surprised the fact they were happily going to ship him out, didn't help us complete the sail.

Everything, given you're getting all excited about a LOCAL LAD and his loyalty to his HOME TOWN club.

I reiterate, burk.
