2horses dead before the meet even starts, likely caused by underground wires electrocuting them.  No

Coincidence? Both horses same owner - adverse effect to a drug of some sort?

I guess it's the metal shoes on the hooves which made the horses very susceptible to an electric cable on the turf but it makes you wonder about the stable-hands and jockeys. A close escape there!

According to Channel 4 Racing the guys who covered the horses in the paddock certainly got electric shocks off the poor animals.  They did run that race and when they got thehorses back to the stables some were reported as having burns in their mouths where the metal bit goes!  Sad day.

According to horse experts, the shock a horse can withstand is only one sixth of what a human can withstand.
Anything over that is generally fatal.
