Read this in a coffee shop yesterday and must admit ended up sort of agreeing. If we didn't have these stupid windows alot of teams would be worse off because uefa currently contributly more or less fuck all.

This bit struck me as a bit odd:

Quote
This alone though won’t stop the ridiculous spending in football and in reality only one thing will - abolishing the transfer fee once and for good.

A little bit drastic? Yes, but with the good of the game at heart.

Wages would still be an issue of course so they would need to be capped to prevent the rich clubs still getting the best players by paying them the earth each week.

Wouldn't that just mean that we (and virtually every other club in the Football League) pretty much never be able to hold on to a decent player, cos they'd just get snaffled by bigger clubs for nowt on a whim?

I tend to agree more wuithg the article DRS found. The transfer fee is a result of contracts. The player isn't being bought & sold (That's slavery). The player signs a contract with one club in return for riches ........  urged on by his agent in the background cackling with delight (a la Carson) at the 10% he'll get. Players scores some goals resulting in some success for club. Other clubs get jealous & want the player but he's contrated so they pay the players club some wonga to cancel said contract / registration.
I fail to see how the football authorities can un make contract law in football & it would be toatly wrong
