Wilson's deadline day worry

DANNY Wilson has admitted the thought of reaching February 1 without a new striker on board at the County Ground has crossed his mind lately, and it has
  been far from pleasant.

he sounds like he's bargain shopping instead of just going for it and making sure we have someone to score goals. ARGH

Betting that we'll get a striker in today is in the DMR realms of wagering.

Right Im going out for a couple of hours and if we haven't signed 3 strikers by the time I get back then thats it, Im burning my season ticket that I don't have and having a wilson out / sack the board protest around the streets of chippenham.  Then Im going to join the adver forum and scream and shout because its JUST NOT GOOD ENOUGH.  AND MY CAPS LOCK MIGHT GET STUCK ON.  AND I MIGHT BEAT THE WIFE (IF IVE EVER MANAGED TO TALK TO A WOMAN WITHOUT HER RUNNING AWAY).

Reading the comment about agents' fees does make me wonder whether we have a particularly hardline stance when it comes to not paying these.  To an extent, I do like the idea that we may be doing our bit to divert money away from players' agents - who add no value at all to the game.  They are parasites.  Ultimately, we all end up paying for them. But what purpose do they really serve?

Unfortunately, unilateral action never works though.  If we refuse to pay these fees while other clubs do, the playing field will be very uneven.  (Think of the pitch at the Manor Ground.)  I'm also disconcerted that DW seems to be getting his excuses in early.  As others have said, this is simply not good enough.  Failing to replace Greer and Paynter has cost us dear.  The manager has had 6 months to remedy the situation, and hasn't.  Add Austin to the picture, and today is pivotal.  I'm watching.  Excuses are not going wash this time if nothing happens.

Yes it is. Nothing new here that we haven't all heard on Saturday.

I'd imagine Wislon is sitting in his drawing room smoking a big fat cigar following a busy day of signing 4 top players on Sunday and Fitton giving him the day off.

It was mentioned about half an hour ago on Talksport in their transfers bit that Benyon was on his way to us.

Cheesy I reckon we'll announce we're after a couple of left-backs "but nothing's definite" mid-morning just to see if the level of fury and CAPSLOCK keythumping can make the Adver's server explode. Then mid-afternoon, they'll say the move's fallen through, then at around 5.20 when people are flooding GWH A&E with burst eyeballs and imploded brains and the like, there'll be a press conference with Wilson pissing himself laughing, saying "Ha, got you!" and unveiling acknowledged want-away Torres, Scholes (in a player manager role) and Coxy turning his back on the Prem to return to his spiritual home
