Can't believe we would have accepted a smaller offer from burnley, doesn't make business sense. We would have just said no you can't talk to them they haven't met our required figure.

Ah, Stfcinbmth. At the risk of being vaguely positive on this, I guess Poole are cock-a-hoop? Have no idea how their finances are but the rumoured sell on fee would probably dwarf what they got for him originally, no?

Most definitely Nemo. Though I don't know any details of how the deal was structured, it will certainly go someway towards the new ground I would imagine. Their finances are pretty good as a whole I think

Hope they do get a new ground out of it, well deserved for their part in everything.

The only club that are prepared to pay hard cash up front in one hit are Man City.

There were media reports this morning, saying that the fee with Ipswich was 1.2 mill plus add-ons.

Personally,i think he's made the better choice.

Are you deluded Spencer? He was widely being acknowledged as unhappy and he requested a transfer. He had zero intention of remaining here and if he had remained here, I can't imagine... I think he'd have left for fuck all in the summer with club morale at an all time low.
Austin staying would have ensured our safety, much like Cox staying in 08//09 did.

As it stands we are in real danger of relegation without a replacement(s). Another season in League 2 would destroy the attendances.

Not if he didn't want to be here, which he didn't. We've seen what he was like over the last few games when his heart hasn't been in it.

Don't know what that says about the rest of our side, but he has been by far our biggest threat all season, and the last few games.

Of course on the upside, assuming we can get it together enough to win enough games to reach safety we now have the time to put a squad good enough to make a real challenge for next season. Bed the new players in now, so come August they can hit the ground running

Not at all. Remmember, up until saturday the only offer we had received was Hull, which was rumoured to be a derisory £600k.

I think if he had still been here on tuesday then I think he would have got his head down again. Charlie is not a stubborn old man, hes a young lad, living in the moment, he would have scored the goals to keep us up. Ok he didnt score the last 2 games, but he came pretty close, they werent terrible performances (although the Yeovil game was a pretty poor effort from him). I like the transfer window, the speculation doesnt just go on and on, there is a deadline.

And he wouldnt have left for fuck all in the summer because we basically had another 2 and a half years on his contract (wake up at the back).

And also dont forget that whatever we are now desperate for another striker, so whatever we have received, a chunk of it has to go on another player.

I see your thinking.

Cheesy The reason why I thought he'd go for fuck all, was if we hadn't allowed him to move, he might well have done a Cureton for the rest of the season, or had his head in the wrong place for the remainder and barely hit the net. Therefore his value would've been pretty tony I reckon and we might have even wanted rid. (In reality we could have just loaned him out with a future fee agreed I suppose.)

He wouldnt have guaranteed our safety, this is sport, nothing can.

But Charlie has a lot of mates and close friends who support Swindon, theres no way he would have just downed tools.

Im sure the Yeovil game it was just pure distraction of what was going on.
