Rovers down into the drop zone, we're 2 points above it.

That's all very well, but you have to wonder how we're going to get two more wins than all the teams above us to get up there. Getting ourselves into the top half has to be the first objective I'd say.

Not far from being half way through the season, and a slight worry is that our away form is crap, but we've yet to visit any team in the top ten.

I like it when Oxford away games get postponed. Everytime it comes up on SSN it says POxford.

We were in a similar position in Lou's last season 88/89....we scraped the PO's by virtue of 4 defeats in 25 games from the turn of the year....couple of those to Man City and Chelsea, who took auto. I really don't think something like that is going to happen with the present side. The catalyst for much of that drive was playing Alan Mac in the hole....previously he'd been at the CG for a couple of seasons without getting much of a look in.

I remember the 88/89 season well, we had the basis of a very good side then, I agree I cannot see this side emulating that though, low mid table finish is on th cards IMO, as long as we arent struggling against relegation come April.

Must have been around this time in 03/04 under King we put a quality run together? What sort of position were we in in early Dec then?

What wouldn't we give for even one of Digby, Mcloughlin, Shearer, White, Gittens, Calderwood or even Ross "fat controller" Mclaren in our side now.

I think we were around 15th. Not sure what the points difference was. Edit: here's the table from 13th Dec 2003, just after we lost 3-2 at home to Plymouth. 14th place, 5 points off the play-offs. We didn't lose in 2004 until mid-March! http://www.swindontownfc.co.uk/page/LeagueTable/0,,10341~20031213,00.html
