Perhaps if Austin does leave we will find a replacement in the 'Samsung Pro Contract', which could also be a disaster.

Cox was essentially replaced by a Poole Town player. Risks can work.

Although I'm not sure that Austin will be here for the 2011/12 season, I believe we'll keep on to him until the summer.

Yeah, after the success of Austin we will be buying builders and plumbers like there's no tomorrow.

If they all turn out crap at least they can make a start on the new stadium.

Unfortunately we have only found one Austin, the rest have been a bit..well...Mark Marshall and Lloyd Oparah if you get my drift .

You can't throw money at players who emerge so quickly though. Give them too much, they get an ego and then the form goes and all of a sudden you've got an overpaid player in the reserves.

I agree with this completely, but on the other hand when it's clear a player has emerged and performs at such a consistently high level it needs to be reviewed and quickly.  I don't think anyone would be happy if Charlie was to leave because the club wouldn't increases his wages sufficiently to match others in the team who clearly aren't deserving of them!  I would go so far as to say that some supporters would be so upset they would stop attending matches, particularly if the fee we got for him was thought to be too low.

the trouble clubs have is that when a forward bangs in the goals,if they dont pay him top dollar, then you can bet another club will.
i think the club have done right by charlie, but now have to decide to either cash in or pay him big money....

Danny Wards main motivation to come back to Swindon is to be with and play alongside Charlie Austin, so thats extremely unlikely.

He's good at holding up play and if he scored a few more then him and Austin would be a great partnership. Although we aren't exactly short of goals at the moment with the likes of Richie, Austin, JP and Morrison scoring quite regularly. Austin leaving though would be a problem because results like 3-3 against Yeovil and 5-4 against Peterbrough (even though that was a loss) would turn into thrashings.
