Next time one of us says Fitton should put his hand in his pocket more, or Wilson should sign a striker and a centre back, take a deep breath and remember

Theres no fucking money in running a football club!

We're run as close to 'properly' as we have been in my lifetime, yet we're still losing £2m a year or something. (might be wrong here)

This plymouth situation will happen to half of all league clubs in some form or another over the next few seasons and it needs to happen for football to right itself. In my opinion we are unbelievably lucky we've currently got a decent board in place who are here for the forseeable.

Amen.

Financial stability might be dull, but it's a damn sight better than the alternative.

dittoing the amen.

Running within our means as much as we can may seem a bit frustrating at times, but football's so unsustainable in it's current form that in the long term the head start in sensible spending will hopefully leave us in good stead.

I'd rather see us play shit than not have a team to see at all, so I for one am very happy with our board even if it is very frustrating at times

You and a few others Nick(me to).....on field success is as important as off field success to a lot of fans...maybe not me and you but to plenty of others who wont continue to pay good money to watch poor fayre......just saying we have a team is enough is a dangerous game.....ask Luton etc.

I think if Fitton and co looked like they were being so frugal with the spending that we were about to drop out of the league then we might all have something different to say, but that's very much an if that ever happened scenario.

On the pitch success is something which is much easier to sort out when you don't have the distractions of players not being paid and winding up orders off it, and easier to fix too.

The only real wake-up call would be the death of a team at Championship level and even then a "big" name. I doubt the football world will weep the demise of Doncaster Rovers after a few months. However, lose Leeds United and they'll be recording documentaries, publishing books and the like for years.

Not quite the same but look at Luton Town. They plummetted from the 2nd tier to Non-League and if we were brutally honest, nobody really misses them.

We'll be rewarded for a sensible business strategy eventually. However, it'll take time and I would happily take that over a season of misguided glory followed by it's grizzly conclusion.
