My point was that the idea that we'd go for a deal like that, "here have our player, give us some cash sometime in the future" is bollocks.

You can't contractually obligate the other party to go through with the permanent transfer and stick to the price FFS. There's no way Fitton would go for a deal like that.

Of course you can it's like any other contract, by it's legal implications.

Rowan Vine to Brentford and Neil Trotman to Oldham, (another) two signings I would have been happy with but, alas, we're getting nothing by the look of it.

And what we did with Revell no? I'm sure, after us sending Revell back, there must be a way to renege as Lumps hints at. You can in Football Manager and everyone knows that's exactly like real life.

Hasn't Rowan Vine been gash for years? I'd be quite annoyed if we signed Trotman as Wikipedia says he's a young central defender. We have good young centre backs, we need an old head.

How are we missing out on all these? Bit of a joke.

One assumes we aren't trying.

But you can't sign a contract for a permanent deal outside the transfer window. That's the point of it. You can loan a player but you can't tie it to a permanent deal in January. Otherwise, as half the transfers that take place are on credit anyway, the transfer window would be completely meaningless.

It is a surprise that Wilson knows we need these players, and a central defender urgently but they don't seem to appear yet you hear of other clubs signing players that would do us, so they must be available.

Is Fitton tightening the purse strings you wonder

I am baffled that it looks like no-one is going to come in today, Why does this seem to happen almost everytime the window shuts? Other clubs are signing players and we're not, I thought we would have brought in at least a centre back.

If it is Fitton tightening the purse strings then it could cost us because we won't improve at the back until we have a good leader there that's obvious.

However if Fitton isn't tightening the purse strings then i think Wilson deserves to be hammered for not bringing anyone in.

People are going on about how others are signing and we're not. Please tell me what experienced centre half has been signed that we should have signed please?

This thread is becoming full of hysteria. I've no doubt that can only increase exponentially with each nothing signing other clubs make.

Someone like Neal Trotman, Championship player with plenty of League One experience after being on loan at Southampton & Huddersfield last season.

Trotman rejoined his original club where he started his career, I also doubt very much he would move this far south...hence he signed for Oldham.
