Austin - I will play at a higher level

CHARLIE Austin says he would relish the chance to score goals at a higher level, be it at Swindon Town or elsewhere.

the lad is just the same as any other footballer-ambitious.
he isn't swindon through and through like some want to believe, but he is appreciative of the opportunity stfc have given him.
he'll be off in the summer.

Fair play to Charlie, it was always going to be an ask and an outside shot of keeping him long term due to his goal scoring exploits, if he signs a new contract we get a decent wedge. Sounds to me as if he is issuing a "come and get me" plea though, but it wouldnt surprise me if he signed a new deal on the understanding he leaves in the summer for a decent amount of dosh.

It sounds to ME like a journo has asked if he wants to play at a ahigher level, and he has said yes. All the comments under that article moaning about Charlie "going to the press" make it sound like he's driven to the Adver office after training to get his views out there. He was asked a question and gave an honest and reasonable answer.

Coincidentally so is Simon Cox.

Exactly. Which is, as dave hinted at, also exactly what happened with Cox. Not sure who's more to blame, the morons who don't understand that, or the Adver knowing full well that the morons would do so and so more or less intentionally stirring shit the way they run the story. Probably the Koreans

Well, The Hawthorns is the highest league ground in the country so maybe he wants to join Cox there.
If he's really ambitious he should go to Buxton Town.
