if the club can get him on a better contract it will protect them more in regards to a fee,and also would make the decision to move(when the inevitable offers happen) that bit harder for the player too.

I heard he wants a chocolate factory as part of the deal

and for the team to call him the great Willie Wonka on matchdays.

Greer wanted a two year contract and Fitton didn't want to give him it, due to concerns as to whether he would retain his form and be a regular in the team for the next two seasons. Greer has played in just 5 of the 18 Brighton games this season.

They didn't say they wouldn't discuss a contract with Greer, just not until October time because that is when they begin looking at contracts each year - which is around now, when they are talking to Austin.

Good stuff. But he'll still be gone in the summer I think. He didn't look interested on Tuesday night. Strange for him.

Why would you want to discuss his contract when he has got 18 months 2 years left?

To protect your assets. In the summer he'll have just 1 year left, hence worth less.

To reward the player - increase wages to match performances. Might make him more inclined not to bugger off in Jasnuary.

Sure ok sounds good, Mr Wray said he is not for sale so thats agood thing, are we we now going to try and build a team and keep hold of our better players? I hope so, i think the sale of greer has affected the team they were coming to a club that was building for the next league and we sold our captin.

To me it's a sign that they are worried he could be off....or a sign that other clubs are calling in January for him and we want to send them a message that he's going nowehere. Hopefully it's the latter.
