Bollocks. With all the shit that goes on in the world of football with players being tapped up and agreeing deals before their club even knows about it and new managers being lined up on the quiet prior to the incumbent manager being sacked, what Holloway did is nothing in comparison.

He went to some football matches and made it known he was interested in the job. Not much different from any of us sending a CV to a company and enquiring about any vacancies they have. Would have been worse in my book if he'd been talking to our board about the job prior to the current manager being sacked.

What is this protocol? Is it written down somewhere so I can get up to speed?

True, If the managerial job was vacant it would be different but he showed up when we had a manager who was under pressure and to Fitton and others that was deemed unacceptable and forcing the boards hand to get rid. OK Malpas would be gone anyway but he put himself in the Town End knowing our fans would recognise him and chant his name to get his name out there to the board as opposed to going quietly say into the Arkells.

I find it hard to even be slightly sympathetic for Malpas as he was a clown as a manager and his own ineptitude put him under pressure and his comments when he was sacked showed his true colours.

Tbh even if it was a publicity stunt by Holloway it's worked wonders for him hasn't it.....he's managing a team in the Premier League showing that hard graft and passion can make a difference where as we're a struggling league 1 club fighting a relegation battle devoid of any passion at all half the time.

Dont get me wrong, would love Holloway as manager one day if the circumstances are right. I would still take Wilson over Holloway though.

But why, Wilson talks a good game and is fairly respected I guess but in terms of achievements his career consists of 2 promotions is it? and numerous sackings. There's a reason that in recent years he hasn't been outside of league 1 and league 2, I just can't help but have my doubts that his footballing principles just won't work in the long run.
Holloway seems to have acknowledged his own shortcomings and openly admitted recently that over the last couple of years he has reinvented the way he gets his team to play and has reaped the rewards for it.
Teams know how to play Swindon now so does Wilson have a plan B, I'm not sure he does as the story of his entire career is that when things have gone wrong Wilson has been found wanting. As well as the players needing a long hard look at themselves Wilson needs to do the same and not just persist with some systems and players out of sheer stubborness.

No, it's completely trivial in the grand scheme of things but it's still "not done" as Fitton commented at the time. IIRC the board were pretty pissed off with him going about things the wrong way and implied he was trying to force their hands in sacking Malpas, which is why it stuck in my mind. It's no biggie either way, I was just responding to someone asking why him turning up at the time in that way caused a problem. That was the problem. It's not a big problem though.

No, it's in a secret handbook only known to people in football and a few select ex-players and pundits. I just randomly pretend to have seen it so I can quote it out of context every now and then to back up what would otherwise be a wholly specious argument

I agree with Holloway. I mean why can't he select the team he wants? After all he's the Blackpool manager right? It's his job. Why don't they just let the FA select everyones team? It's pathetic that they could even consider fining him for it.

Problem is that with there better team they may have got a point or all three........which means Villa get no points........which could be vital at the seasons end...if say Bolton miss Europe by one point to Villa..then this match becomes pivotal.
Personally i think he should pick what ever team he wants,,,,,but wonder how he would feel at the seasons end if Blackpool are in trouble a team drops ten players....meaning they go down.

The tactical surprise probably worked in their favour, fringe players stepping up to the plate obviously freshened things up, hence why they did so well. We've seen it at our club with Timlin and LJF comin back in and performing well.

I think its' an absolute joke, the Premier League sets regulations of 25 players, Holloway ain't done nothing wrong, the players' performances justified his selection and its' up to him as manager to pick whatever team he likes at whatever game he likes.

Maybe though if we need a team to do us a favour one day...and they dropped ten players and lost meaning we didn't go up or get in the playoffs...you may see it in a different light Belfast...personally i wouldnt be a happy bunny....you?

With regards to your second point, I would be outraged if a team did it against us.
