I heard some dude on the radio who'd murdered his landlady and served 30 years, it was on 5live this morning. He was arguing (very badly) that all lags should have the same civil liberties as the rest of us, so the vote, internet in their cells etc.

Can't say it sat well with me, to be honest!

I don't think they should have the vote. I don't think they should have parole - they should have time added to their sentences if they misbehave. If they trash the joint they should be forced to rebuild ( while they live in the shithole they've created ) what they've done and again have time added on.
Basically, to get to jail now you've got to be complete cunt so fuck em. They should have the same rights they've given others - fuck all.
In fact, for killers I'd use them for drug experiments or to be live donors to partly repay the lives they've taken.

Bollocks. The punishment is withdrawal of civic rights. That includes loss of liberty either fully (imprisonment) or partial (tagging/community service) and losing the vote, among other stuff. If you can't do the time ....
