Can some one tell me....Cook scored 189...does this count in his stats as only a ton.....or does it go down in the book as a ton...and a fifty?

Just a ton....

Collingwood announces test retirement. Inevitable really. If i were him i'd refuse to bowl second innings, and have the memory of bowling hussey with his last test delivery

Good on Colly. From Michael Vaughan on TMS :

On Paul Collingwood's Test retirement: "He's still going to play one-day internationals and Twenty20 cricket for England, but after the Perth Test we were talking and he said this should be my last Test series. He felt he had taken his game as far as he could and saw Eoin Morgan in the nets and thought it was his turn."

Anyway, we're ony a few runs short of scoring 500 again, for the 4th time in this series. That cannot of happened much against the Aussies.

Sounds like England are taking the piss a bit on the last wicket. Superb.

Went to bed at 190-8. Thought they'd be all out for 200!

Hopefully the extra 90 for the last couple of wickets wont come back to haunt England.

Having been a bit disappointed with this too, the Aussies must be distraught Smiley

161-5, a good way to soften the blow of going back to work  Smiley

213-7 at close of play - having asked for an extra half an hour to wrap it all up today when Tremlett was on a hat-trick, but unfortunately it didn't happen.
I can't see it lasting to long into the next session, and in spite of the fact that I have to get up at 6 tomorrow, am very tempted to stay up and see the completion.  Zzz

The Australian press are not taking it too well

Quote
Then there are the fundamentals. Nearly all series, but especially here, England's bowlers have looked like they were playing on a different pitch and with a different ball to Australia's. Jimmy Anderson, Chris Tremlett and Tim Bresnan have moved the ball, in and away, seam and swing, orthodox and reverse, new ball and old, putting even accomplished batsmen constantly in two minds.

The only movement Australia's bowlers have created is from the bat, rapidly. With the new ball yesterday - the third new ball - Mitchell Johnson's four overs cost 48, a pummelling even in Twenty20 cricket. As night follows day, Johnson later made a first-ball duck. Oh for the days when Johnson was at least enigmatic.

Pure domination with bat and ball again. The Aussies really have been totally outclassed in this series with the exception of Perth.

The only place we didn't score 500.

I wonder how many Aussies will turn up tomorrow. I think Botham will be playing 'Spot the Aussie in the crowd' game again !!!
