The only ones absent tomorrow for the second day (at least) are going to be the Aussie crowd, if the end of day one is anything to go by. It could be a lonely place at the MCG for the Barmy Army.

The Aussie press have already gone to town :

Quote of the day though :

Aussies 98 all out, their lowest EVER score at the MCG in their first innings.

Looking back at Perth, the difference was Hussey as most of the batsmen struggled, and Johnson actually bowled like he can do, but he reverted back to type today, and bowled shite.

I think Mike Atherton said after Adelaide that the Aussie bowling attack needs assistance with the wicket to bowl sides out, and that is why they liked the pace and bounce at Perth, as either side of the Perth test the Aussie bowlers have taken 6 wickets for the cost of nearly 1300 runs (517-1d, 620-5d and 157-0 so far).

I would now bat for as long as possible, preferably to around tea on the third day with a big lead, subject to the weather, and let Swanny and co. do the business.

Yeah, I guess that's why I'm not an international cricket captain.

Strange in this series that both sides seem unable to play good cricket at the same time. We battered the aussies in adelaide, then we look terrible and Mitchell Johnson runs riot in Perth, now the Australians look like a minor county side again.

Did hugely enjoy Ponting throwing a massive wobbly over that Pietersen decision last night though!

Who didn't? Punter's could be about to become the first Aussie captain to lose three Ashes series for over one hundred years, and now he's losing the plot. All he needs now to top it off, is a run out, which he did in 2005 and 2009.

So I guess the Australian cricket team won't be getting a telegram from the Queen for reaching a hundred.

Wouldn't put it past him. I'll be expecting him to be batting sometime tomorrow, and I'm sure the Barmy Army will give him a nice rendition of 'You're going to get sacked in the morning' on his way out.

Can't wait to comppund his misery tonight.

Get the boys to get the long spikes on, run down the track every ball on a "Swann length" for a session then have a bowl... simples

Not far off the start again, in the luxurious position of not having work tomorrow so I'm here until I fall asleep...if we could finish this tonight it'd be nice!

I'd really like to see live the moment when we win and retain the ashes - but not sure if I should go to be now and get up early or try and last the whole night.
Of course it may not even happen today, but I really want to savour the look on Ponting's face.

"I understand I overstepped the mark. I realise it didn’t look good but the umpires vouched for me. I didn’t show any malice or aggression, it's just the discussions went on longer than they should have done. I accepted the 40% fine straight away. I guess that one flaw in the system is that replays are shown on the big screen, we could see an obvious Hotspot mark and I wanted to clarify how the third umpire got to making the decision he made. But I got caught in the heat of the moment and it went on too long."

Harris has hurt himself, never a good thing to see that as he's very much injury prone.
