200/1 now. Batsmen untroubled despite Strauss's rush of blood.

Just got up. Wasn't expecting that! Cracking 4th day. This time yesterday I was thinking we would need to stretch our final innings out to last 5 of the remaining 6 sessions...and didn't fancy our chances. I think I do now.

Brilliant stuff, I slept with the radio on and got woken up when Strauss was out. Was in a bit of a grump until they said it was 188/1. When I woke up this morning, even better.

The Empire strikes back.
I think a draw is a good result in the first match.

Would like to see us get in a position to make them bat after tea and then give them everything in an attempt to get a few wickets and finish with a 'winning' draw.

Would be good if we kept it safe and sensible in the morning session, then went in to 20/20 mode after lunch to put up an unbeatable target and give our bowlers as many overs as possible to win it in. Not going to happen though as we always play it safe.

I turned on the TV this morning, was pleasantly surprised, watched on over...then they went off with bad light.
If we can get at least a draw (1-16 on) now, this will psychologically damage the Aussies. They came on bigging this game up saying they were unbeaten here in 22 years, and this was the Aussie fortress.
I would like for KP to have a bit of a bat tomorrow. I'm in two minds whether we declare tomorrow or not. Part of me would like to declare and give our bowlers around 15-20 overs to see what damage we could do, or just bat and bat, knackering out their bowlers, with a view of hopefully winning the toss again and batting, so they'll be bowling again a few days after bowling to two long hot days.

respectively discussing possibility of a Test and Series win for us. I'm really surprised they're as downbeat as this so early on.
No different to the British media really.

Their confidence in their bowlers is wafer thin.

No way we will win this test now as it's too late in terms of time but a great turnaround and the top 3 batsmen have proved me wrong. Maybe we can get a lead of 200 plus and think about declaring? I think it will be a safer bet if we just play out the draw. We don't have to win the series, we can draw it and still retain the urn. So knocking one test off and making it in effect a 4 match series suits me fine.

Getting a draw will seem like a win.....still need another 200 runs yet though to be safe.

Hour gone and no real threat from the aussies. Can't believe Ponting hasn't used a spinner yet on a day 5 pitch where the seamers are doing nothing.
Nearly seen enough to get some sleep and be confident of no surprises in the morning.
