That is the basis of a good squad. I would try and bring in about 4 midfielders, a versatile defender and a striker. The deals for Shakes and Comyn Platt are as good as done.

I wouldnt feel so down about it. If the squad played to potential we have a solid keeper. The best centre back in the division, the quickest (attention span) centre back in the division, Jenkins is reliable, one of the best midfielders when fit, and one hard working striker and one good one.
We do need midfielders though badly, we need back up for Nicho and figures crossed a striker like Cureton, Akinfenwa was mentioned by King. Seems like a bit of a moaner and why did the talks with city break down but what do people think of him as a player

I'm looking forward to it even if I do miss the start. Plus the only mate I go with who is a real Swindon fan, won't be playing Saturdays anymore because his team have been thrown out the league

Akinfenwa's talks with Bristol broke down as transfer fees couldn't be agreed - Bristol wanted to offer a deal which was performance related which Torquay weren't satisfied with.
The squad is a tad threadbare but any time soon the transfers are gonna pour in. Any word on how much we're getting for Super Sam?
