But stabilising from where we were to now is massive progress surely?

Indeed, we could have easily kept going backward.

However that was the easy part, pushing on is the hard part....we've never got out of this league upwardly without having some seriously good players....Hunt, Summerbee, Rogers, Trollope, Noble, Calderwood, White, Kamara, Digby, Taylor, Thorne, Allison etc.

That is the level that the current bunch must aspire to...not easy.

If we were looking for a new manager tomorrow, my first choice would be Paul Tisdale.

So you would take a gamble on an unproven manager at this level rather than an experienced Championship/League 1 manager?  I don't necessarily disagree with your choice but think it is a gamble to bring in somebody like Tisdale and expect him to do any better than Wilson with the same restrictions in place.

Realistically I couldnt see anyone from the Championship coming down here. Same for the majority of L1.

I wouldnt call Paul Tisdale unproven either.

Why don't you just fuck off and stop being a cunt.

What I hate about today, in order:

1) Dave and Bart and Dave/Bart types.
2) Vic Morgan and his pointless *cough* commentary
3) The result

Agreed, but the co-commentor (Neil?) deserves a mention too, for consistently derailing the conversation with attempted comedy asides.

Any speculation around Wilson's position, hypothetical or otherwise is bullshit. The guy led us to Wembley last season playing some of the best football I've seen in years. There were several highs and very few lows.
The team has changed this season and its not gelling yet but as arriba says cut the guy some slack. Wilson is changing personnel to see what will gel. We're far from relegation fodder and if it does gel then we're capable of putting a few wins together.
No need to panic yet. Lets see where we are at X Mas.

Anything in the bottom half of the table this season and I'd get rid.

Really?I wouldn't.

My reasons:

He's a very good manager, as a club financially we may be doing OK (top 6-8 attendance wise, etc) but we don't have the financial clout to buy our way out the league. Given that I'm not sure what more he can do than he has done so far.

Well Tisdale achieved exactly what Wilson has recently, kept a team in this division, he has achieved no more, so as far as hiring a manager that is proven at this level you have to look at people like Gary Johnson, Darren Ferguson or Lambert, but like you say they would not come down to us.  Therefore I come back to my original point.  If you get rid of Wilson, who do you get in that has more chance of doing a better job.

There aren't many around so I think we need to stay behind Wilson until he starts making decisions like playing Heywood up front!

I found it quite funny when he said that Dossevi had been poor since he scored (after 40 seconds). Both Vic and the other guy were terrible

What the fuck are you on about?

Beriman asked me a hypothetical question about replacing Wilson and I answered it. You've clearly not understood my posts.

Cant bes arsed to trawl through the whole thread but .............

Just got back and have a little time to reflect on one of the most abject performances I have seen for quite some time, reminded me very very much so of the sort of performances we delivered under Malpas.

Not good enough, simply not fucking good enough.

We have got a threadbare makeshift squad that is full of wannabe's and nearly men.

I have always shouted down people that said we were a one man team, I apologise for that because quite obviously we are.

Dossevi wowed us with his two goals against Forest and I sincerely thought that he could be a perfect foil for Charlie

I WAS WRONG

I gave Pericard massive credit at the Walsall game, thinking that he would now push on

I WAS WRONG

Coming back from injury or not.................... Ferry is a mere shadow of the player that turned out for us last season, as is Douglas, as is JP,

and dont even start me off about Amankwah

Utter fucking gash.

To start an international CF that does not even understand or interpret the offside rule beggars belief !

and before anyone hangs me out to dry, think about today, Plymouth and Walsall, any HALF DECENT striker would have slotted at least 4 of the 10 chances he has had

Bollocks to all this "its only 10 games, we are still gelling shite", we should be a cohesive squad by now.

Something is seriously wrong and I am sorry but going from Play off finalists to what I spent £100 witnessing today is just not acceptable.

D'oh - sorry Berniman!

I'm happy to be called a cunt and what not, but fuck me...

I want us to do better than last season. I think anything less than last season is failure and I personally think bottom half is sacking the manager failure  -  and some how thats me being negative, wanting better?!

If anything its me being stupidly ambitious and hopefull. I bet if I was all accepting of us doing nothing like reg, i'd be called negative as well.

Don't get all emotional DV, you are right in a lot of what you say, and we are all ambitous and want the team to do well obviously.

I reacted because you were making me out to look like a cunt originally by saying that my jokey statement about everybody cutting their wrist on here tonight was a stupid thing to say because what do I expect, we have just lost 2 games on the trot.  You are Swindon more than most on here Dave, but you tend to either be black or white, there is no in between, and if anyone is expressing views that are a tad gray then you tend to go on the attack.

Just a thought mate.  We are all not happy, but just because we aren't calling for heads and looking for people to blame doesn't mean that we care any less.  We haven't gone from good to bad, we are just not as good as we were if you like, and that can be worked on.  That is my opinion anyway.
