i've been trawling the net all day looking at current campervans and vans and minibuses for a conversion project.

anyone have any experience of campervans and or conversions?  any suggestions on suitabe vans?

I went to Greece in the 80's (2,000 miles - 48 hours non stop driving) in a two litre petrol twin rear wheel LWB Transit with a mate and his girlfriend.

The best holiday of my life ever.

Love a camper, especially a splitty. Just cost hell of a lot of money.

"Oooh my van's camper than your van, my vans got furry dice!"

Pathetic.

Think I'm lookin at a Renault Traffic or Master, or an LDV Convoy or Pilot - preferably high top given I'm 6'3.

Probably looking at a minibus to convert as they already have windows.

And to the plagerist - this is meant to be a home for me if i decide to go live on the west coast of France for a summer for example after my ski seasons finish, i'm not doing this to compete with anybody or to look cool, it is just the most sensible thing for me to be doing...

Why does everyone constantly bite to the_plagiarist? I think he's averagely funny, comes out with a few gems now and again, but you lots reaction to him is often hilarious.

A bloke locally has his VW Camper van painted in the Mystery Machine graphics and it does look really good!

But it is a proper professional paint job, not done in his garage like some of them!

also they break down all the time

I once went round France in a VW camper....it didn't so much break down as not start. The only way to get it going was a bump, the French must have had a laugh seeing a couple of hairy blokes shoving this thing along the roads...

I used to have a Bedford HA van....not a full camper, but a mattress fitted in the back..proper ace.

I once broke down right on the north coast road of Scotland on my way to a party in Tongue..it was so far from anywhere, the AA couldn't get anybody there til the next day. Smiley

You can download 30 day trial versions of AutoCAD LT for free I believe. That's pretty straight forward to use once you get the gist of it - loads of online help for how to use it. Full version is not so cheap. Depends how long you want it for! It's only for 2D drawings but if you've never used CAD before I would have thought that's all you want? Enough for plan/section/elevations etc.
