I hold my hands up, I was one of those who slayed Vincentdinho on here. That said, I would never boo him in a game.

However, if I turned up at work and performed like he was last year, I'd be getting called this and that as well. I might be feeling ill or having other sh*t going on, but you still have to do your job. That's life. Footballers need to accept the glory when it's due, but also the criticism. We pay our money on a Saturday, so we are entitled to have an opinion. Doesn't mean it can't change!

Whatever he's doing now, it's working. So fair play to you big man, keep it up. I'd love it if he became the 20-plus-goal a season striker we need.

Good luck to ya pericaldo.

It's funny how few people slag off Vince now he's scored and liked him all along. There was loads of shit on here showing a complete intolerance and dislike of big V. It's like people not being on Paynter's back, ever, prior to last season and people saying "all along" that he should have had a contract offered sooner.

Just to further open the can of worms, I wonder if we've used our incredible foresight to offer him a contract yet...? Or maybe next season we can look back and say how we should have offered him a contract now, 1 goal in, before he went on a 30 goal streak of league destroying proportions.

Absolutely.

I don't think many can deny Pericard hasn't been a good solution for us up until a few weeks ago (be it due to his ability or playing the bit part or lack of confidence etc.) But there is a massive difference in saying he's not the answer to our striker solution then backtracking when it turns out he is.

It's very much like the Paynter situation prior to last season and indeed in the early parts. He comes good and everyone starts singing his name in the stands. I also don't think there's anything wrong with that, but people should hold their hands up and admit when a player proves them wrong. I liken it to my views on McGovern, I never rated him until last season but he managed to prove me wrong. There's no way I could spin it to say I always thought he was good.

Like Arriba says though, it's very early days. For me, Pericard has always been about the potential and a case of whether he can deliver on it. In the past few games he has delivered and I'm really glad.

It's interesting what a bit of support can do for a player: Paynter, Jean-francois and now Pericard have all played a lot better once the fans have made an effort to let them know they're just as important as any of our other players. Moral of the story is that we should be getting behind the new players as much as the established ones. I think we need a chant for Prutton.

I fucking hate Prutton, but that is class. I will attempt to start it saturday to test Si Pie's "Get Behind the Lads" theory.

When chatting to a few Swindon fans before the Walsall game most seemed to think he is rubbish and has nothing to offer. OK that was only a few and I think just got off the window licking coach. In conversation I stuck up for him but there was no convincing anyone (with the exception of one woman) otherwise. I agree he has some way to go to win over most Town fans, but at least he's now going in the right direction. Looked like he appreciated the support at the end. Hope he feeds off that.

Glad to see him coming good...problem is he looks lazy but that's just his style.
Pericard is on good money and should be doing the buisness...thats what he is paid for.
He still has a fair bit to go to win over all but i applaud him for not throwing his toys out of the pram.
When fit he should be a real quality player.

I for one, have supported him the whole time.

The thing is, I don't think he did himself any favours by saying he wanted 15 last season when he came in and like Dave, I think this article should've been done after 10 goals, not 3...

Judging from his and Wilson's comments this week, I think it's fairly obvious he was unsettled and was probably questioning his Swindon future.

I'm not going to say I told you so. I'm bigger than that.

(Plus, as been highlighted, 3 goals doesn't mean very much over a whole season).

I think he got off to a bad start because the fans thought he was going to kick Austin out of the team when he didnt deserve it.

Now Austin's established himself as our number 1 striker I think the fans are more relaxed about who's up there with him.

Really? That never even occurred to me, I just think he came in a little bit mouthy, didn't really get a chance to back it up and then missed a few sitters. I'll be surprised if he gets fewer than 15 this season assuming he gets a run in the team.

Was it the Charlton home play off leg where Big Vince headed against the post? He was flat on the ground afterwards for what seemed like ages, obviously distraught. If that had gone in it might have been a very different start to the season. Confidence...yeah, I can understand that.
