Quote
AM: Is it hard for you when the fans are on your back and you hear yourself getting booed?

VP: It takes out 50 per cent of your capability. You are down, with no confidence and everything you do is looked at an analysed.

When you go home you look at websites and people are just shouting their mouth off at you. It knocks you down. I didn’t want to come to training, didn’t want to come to games.

But when they love you, when they applaud you, when they want you it gives you an extra boost. Hopefully they will now support me, support the team and give us an real lift.

We love you big Vinnie Love Lovers

I knew people winged about Pericard, myself included at times, however for the most part I always thought our fans backed Pericard for the most part and always sang his name when he came on.

I agree, he's never had the stick that Pook or Duke ever received but then that's because Pericard is actually quite good.

No way near that amount, Most people always said once Pericard scored he would keep scoring, even if it did take 8 months to do it. It's almost as if the adver is stirring shit. He never got that much abuse. I think people who did boo were booing more because Austin or Paynter (last season) were going off than Pericard coming on.

Haha bullshit Gary, most people had written him off before the season had even started.

I wonder how many of our players read message forums like TEF. Must be pretty soul destroying to see some of the stuff that gets written about them.

It's funny how few people slag off Vince now he's scored and liked him all along. There was loads of shit on here showing a complete intolerance and dislike of big V. It's like people not being on Paynter's back, ever, prior to last season and people saying "all along" that he should have had a contract offered sooner.

Just to further open the can of worms, I wonder if we've used our incredible foresight to offer him a contract yet...? Or maybe next season we can look back and say how we should have offered him a contract now, 1 goal in, before he went on a 30 goal streak of league destroying proportions.

There's no doubt Vince looks a different player to last season. But he didn't really stand a chance before, coming in to a side challenging for promotion with two strikers on fire was an impossible position. I still thought he showed he was quality last season and just needed a chance to get going.

We could do with getting another year on Vince's contract, so we don't have another striker panic in the summer. I reckon he'd do ok in the Championship as well, if (in the unlikely event) we go up.

Could not understand much of the criticism, but hopefully those who did will fire Pericard up
